So glad I found this thread.
Getting sick of the slow down now, thought it was just me.
Unfortunately I have 2 lines provided by SSE/Swalec into my property. Both suffer from slow down every day.
Currently getting slower speeds than my old dsl connection (2.5Mbps) which is completely unacceptable even with traffic shaping when I am paying for the Ultrafast broadband.
I have been on the phone to them for the past 3 months and there isn't any sign of it getting fixed.0 -
Effectively got screwed by SSE. 80mbs 100ft from BT box.... With SSE now 2mbs . at midnniggt speed goes up so majorly traffic shaped0
-
Thankfully the Sky £5.35 came up, I almost ordered £12 deal with SSE as I am less than a mile near the exchange so get great ADSL speeds, which are ten times faster than some of you are reporting on SSE Fibre
Fibre should not be traffic managed for the majority under 24MBPS, ADSL2+ speeds, you are paying for Fibre afterall.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
Looks like i'm being traffic shaped too, slower than adsl. Annoyed to say the least

It shouldn't and if it needs to be it shouldn't be at the levels they are.
Another night of brutal bandwidth shaping here on 1 line. The other is still a full 74Mbps.
I don't know what is going on. I am beginning to think that SSE is over subscribed for the amount of bandwidth they have purchased.
If this is the case then they have some serious thinking to do as a reduction in speed of 96% isn't fair and I'm sure OFCOM would like to have a word as the service isn't fit for use.0 -
Sometimes problems happen and "a problem shared is a problem halved" or so the saying goes, but we don't believe in doing things by half! We prefer to think that any issue you may have, we can work with you to resolve it.
If you're unhappy with any service or contract you have with us, the first thing to do is let us know.
Please phone us on:
0800 975 8311
If you tell us you are not happy with the way we dealt with your enquiry or delivered a service, we'll do our best to sort things out immediately. If we cannot do this, we'll keep you informed about how long we expect to take to sort the matter out for you.
If you're still not satisfied, please ask to speak to a manager.
If you are still unhappy eight weeks after you have given us the chance to resolve your complaint, you can refer the matter to the Ombudsman.
We may agree with you earlier than this that you can refer your complaint to the Ombudsman, if we cannot sort the matter out for you. In this case, we would issue a 'deadlock letter', which allows the Ombudsman to look at your complaint earlier than eight weeks after you have raised it with us.

I think that about sums it up. I don't think people would grumble too much, if their 76Mbps service dipped a little bit below 15Mbps during the afternoon and evening, but going below 10 Mbps, 5Mbps, 4Mbps, 3Mbps, and even 2Mbps is just ridiculous. There aren't too many who are going to be basking in the glory of super fast speeds between midnight and midday. :j
Just for the record, in case anyone didn't notice, MSE did clearly stipulate that SSE used traffic shaping. However, no one was going to be any the wiser, as to what that might mean exactly, until new customers starting reporting back on threads like this with real world results. SSE must have at least had an inkling how it might turn out for some people, but they weren't going to tell us were they...0 -
But when does poor speed (ie. less than 10% of your subscribed speed) and service fall into the term of traffic shapping?
Also with Ofcom new rules since june new customers should be told in writing what expected speed they should get. Did anyone get this information because i scrolled through all paperwork and emails and dont see it.0
