So you're doing "research" into something you've already come to a conclusion about?

So I guess you don't want to hear from those who claim tax credits and don't feel "stigmatised" at all? Or who feel stigmatisation is reducing? As that won't help your confirmation bias. Are academic standards really that low at Leeds ;)

To me its a pretend university that was born out of a Polytechnic.
  • I am claiming wtc and was receiving £48 a week my income for the 13/14 tax year was £7257 for the tax year 14/15 was £10506 my payments have now gone down to £8 a week would this be correct? How do the income disregards work? I have not received my renewal pack yet

Seems a bit low. Presume your single, 30 hours, no disabilities? Have you given them an estimate of this year's earnings?

    Hi Zagfles

Just wanted to give a quick update. OH e-mailed HR last Sunday and again yesterday and still no reply from her. He also rang today and left a message on her phone, so no idea if it means she is looking into it or now, hopefully she will get back to him early next week.

  • Glad of info re red line. Received renewal letter yesterday, red line and no income listed for my husband despite correctly saying he works 24 hrs a week. I told them change of circs in Sept when I started working 9 hours a week - and my income is the only income listed now! I wondered if it's because he's self-employed so may not have P60 info? But nothing has changed re his income,as I told them in Sept.Worried about possible overpayment. Tried to call a couple of times but too long holding on, will have to dedicate a morning to it...

Well hopefully she'll find out this time instead of just guessing! But the numbers definitely show payments being taken after tax, so if they should be taken before tax then there's a screwup at payroll!

They get income from RTI reported by employers so if he's self employed they won't have this.

I was speaking to a friend of mine and he advises me that he has received his renewal pack and has the infamous red line across the middle of the page. He is single, employed and no children and he get £31.00 a month WTC.

Based on that I find it hard to believe they would bother doing an
investigation into him when there are a lot of people getting a lot more than him.

HMRC and the outsourcing company have limited resources and will focus on the high risk category with big pay outs.

Yes I'm single work over 30 hours and no disabilities my earnings for this year will be about £13000 seemed a bit low to me as well.
