    Thanks for your input

I dont live in Barcelona so cant comment , but I haven't seen opposition to tourism here on the Costa Blanca

I live in a small pottery village ant the locals welcome and encourage tourism as it brings money and work here !

I also dont know any of my ex pat or Spanish friends that stay up all night raving , do your friends ? (un less there is a local fiester or birthday party of course ! )

I guess drinking and partying happens all over the world , I :)know there is more of a drink culture in the uk than here .

You seem negative about people moving to Spain or visiting it , do you feel it would be better if if only Spanish people lived in Spain and only certain people visited it ?

I prefer to live in the free world ! with the hope one day we will all unite for the good of humanity

    Cheers Tony :)

Your posts continually talk of this free world you seem to believe in. It is defianately not free for most people including the many 100s of people who have died in the Mediterranean Sea during the last few days.

    Hi from Spain

I have been here for 12 years now , noticed houses are now selling again .

I think for people who are retiring , Spain could be a good place to save money , and free capital from a Uk property

prices are low here and the exchange rate is good

If any one has any questions what its really like living here full time .
or info on the local area near Alicante City

I will try my best to answer

    Cheers Tony :)

    Hi Tony,
We are thinking of spending the winters out there, when my wife retires (I'm almost certainly going to retire next year). I like the idea of buying, so that we have somewhere to stay exactly as we would like, but I am put off by the prospect of long distance ownership. We haven't decided exactly where yet, but I like bowls, swimming, cycling and running with my dog, with him off lead (so probably someway rural or with access to somewhere suitable). We've noted that the long term winter rents are good value, but with a dog in tow it does restrict choice.

I'm about 10 miles from La Zenia Boulevard.

I only spend up to six months in Spain, I go back to the UK soon.

Another important point - whilst Spanish healthcare is good, there is a lack of aftercare at home and social care. This is why many ex-pats, especially if they have lost a partner, wish to return to the UK. IF you are able to retain a home in the UK, that's good.

In addition, pay attention to inheritance tax rules, it varies regionally.

We are hoping to spend our winters in Spain in a few years time (maybe sooner), how has your experience of doing this been?
