Another vote for insure & go.
I have not claimed, but spoke to them in January when my FIL was in hospital and recently regarding my 90 year-old MIL.
  • Another company for £160? Who?
  • Hi. I’m losing the will to live. Tried all the companies and they vary so much and all very expensive. I need cover for myself and mother in law and both have conditions. I wish I could phone one company and they could search and source.

I have posted a new thread - but - probably should have done it here. I thought I saw someone saying they used NFOP Insurance for someone like my husband with a pre-existing condition. (Who by the way were very prompt at answering our e-mail regarding membership, etc.)

Well we have joined them so now have a membership. BUT new to all this for travel insurance. (He is going to visit his brother in Canada) So now getting bogged down with looking at other companies BEFORE signing him up.

How do you all cope - is it (a) The premium or (b) At least have cover?

Thoughts appreciated from you experienced travelers.
  • My wife had an undiagnosed issue last year. No-one would cover it until I rang Nationwide BS and they charged £129 on top of the monthly fee. With the interest on the monthly fee it actually works out at £5 per month for the Flex Plus account so may be worth contacting them.

Its a mix of both. Have you downloaded the NFOP policy booklet that shows all the coverages, excesses and exlusions?

Once you armed with that info you can sensibly compare what other providers are giving.

Printed it all out of NFOP. Will sit and look at that later. (Pleased I am not going abroad - doesn't seem like enjoyment to me all this planning.)

Would need to join Nationwide FlexPlus Account. Just did an online insurance with Staysure - still coming out pretty hefty. BUT - we are told we get what we pay for....

    Thank you all for help.
  • Hope I've got the right thread.......My wife and I both have pre-existing medical conditions which we need to declare for travel overseas but we dont need cover for flight cancellation as we booked this direct with the flight company. Can we get travel insurance just to cover us for the medical conditions and, if so, where? Thanks

    From NFOP website
From the 1st September, anyone wishing to apply to the Annual Travel Scheme must have held NFOP membership for a minimum six consecutive months prior to an application for cover.
