That’s obviously an unfortunate state of affairs, and I do sympathise. Unfortunately, though, insurers exist to make profits, and if they judge that a high premium is required to cover a high risk of a claim, that’s a sad but unavoidable situation.

Brexit has made the situation even worse because reciprocal arrangements may cease on 29 March, but even apart from that it’s not good if you have pre-existing conditions.

Can you think of an alternative though?

Have you tried a company called All Clear? They claim to cover ALL conditions, though obviously at a price!

Is you condition associated with any charitable organisation? If so they may be able to help?

    Good luck.

There are insurance companies that will cover you for travelling but EXCLUDE certain ailments that you disclose, try one of these before you cancel your holiday.
The other alternative ( which i am not recommending ) is to travel without insurance.

Excluding the conditions that are creating the high quotes would be almost as risky as travelling with no insurance, though, wouldn’t it.

Insurance companies exist to make profits. They do not operate on the basis of fairness or giving someone a chance.

That would be a recipe for losing money on an insurance contract, and that’s just not the way business, or life, is I’m afraid.
  • Travel Insurance Facilities plc or Travel Insurance 4Medical. I booked with this firm a I have several medical conditions. I needed to claim with them in July and after 7 months I am now referring them to the Financial Ombudsman. They ignore or prevaricate my requests for payment never giving a reason for non payment and now expect the doctor I saw on holiday to write regarding my infirmity after all this time!
Don’t take up their offer, it’s not worth it.
  • Hi I can't see a link to this. I'd like clarification on how far back you need to declare. For instance is it only issues arising in the last 2 years or does it go back further? My husband and I had operations 6 years ago, mine was a broken wrist and his was a ripped tendon in his knee. I always declare these but do I need to? Thanks

It depends entirely on the questions asked, and those vary from policy to policy.

Provided that you answer the questions honestly and accurately you won't have a problem.
