Each company have their own system.

Some ask for in the ' last 2 years', 'some 5 years' snd some ask 'ever'.

So, it depends on what ia asked.
  • Hi,
Does anyone know of any travel insurance providers who cover the inbound flight?
We took out family 'Premier AMT' insurance with Big Blue Cover aka Global Response last year.
On 6th January, as we were about to leave our hotel on our last day in Austria, we were told we could not drive down the mountain as the roads were closed due to avalanche risk.
We had no other way to get down even with gondola, as we had a hire car to return.
I called the insurance provider and the gent I spoke to told me the situation would be covered and registered my claim and sent us an email with a link to a form.
We have just received the decision, which says Missed Departure only covers outbound. I have three questions really:
Is the term 'missed departure' too vague and requiring clarity in the general claim process?
Should we have claimed under a different situation?
Is there an insurer that covers any missed flights on a trip?
Thanks for your patience and time in looking at this, I'm new here!

  • Going to Spain for a few days in a couple of weeks. I have a few pre-existing items I claim for but this time I am not sure what to do about my husband.
He has been to the doctor about a year ago about his snoring and has been referred to ENT. The waiting list is about 2 years (?) and he went back to GP about 2 months ago as the snoring is getting worse. The GP has now sent him to be tested for sleep apnoea and again the wait is horrendous. As he has no real diagnosis for anything and as they would never be a medical issue on holiday (except for me sleeping beside him!!) do I need to declare them?

    Any advice gratefully received.

    What questions are asked?

If it asks of you have consulted your GP in the last 2 years then yes, he has, so it needs to be declared.

You may be better phoning and explaining rather than doing it online as often the fact that you are waiting for an appointment automatically rules you out. By telephoning you can explain the position and may get cover.
  • Hi
My husband and I have had a joint annual multi trip Europe wide policy with Insure and Go for a few years. Taken out as I have medical pre-existing diseases which need to be notified (current cost £11 to add to this year's policy). Broke my leg while skiing 2 weeks after start of current policy. Treated as outpatient but repatriated by company and awaiting outcome of claim for curtailment and a few other small expenses incurred. Told I had to amend the policy due to my accident but was absolutely shocked to be charge £100 extra for the policy to remain valid for rest of the year - that's 71% of the total I paid for the two of us. Can anyone tell me if this is a legitimate charge. Policy with Insure and Go - on looking at their own small print my broken leg should not even need to be declared (treated as outpatient, no surgery, although have an outpatient review still pending). I paid it but now wonder whether I should have. Feel trapped as I don't want to complain while my claim is ongoing. Any thoughts??

As always, you need only answer the questions actually asked in the application process - but you do need to be completely honest and accurate.

Sleep apnoea would be unlikely to add much, if anything, to the premium - though if it's confirmed it does have to be declared to the DVLA.

I don't know about the £100 charge but they do require you to declare any condition for which you need outpatient appointments. I know that because I have just renewed my policy.

I am insured with L&V I have an annual policy, I suffered a multiple fractured spine on holiday a few month ago, didnt need repatriating but had to travel home in a wheelchair .
L&V have not asked for any money to continue the policy which expires later this year but said I have to declare injuries when it is due for renewal , which I fully expected
  • Got nationwide flex plus annual travel family insurance, but to cover pre existing conditions is an extra £100+ for year. Only go abroad once a year and can get stand alone policy for £35. Is there a way to get just medical cover, or will the E111 cover it anyway?

Why not just get the standalone policy for £35 if it gives full medical cover - though that seems unlikely.

Don't rely on the EHIC (E111 as was). For a start, if we leave the EU without a deal it probably won't be of much use. And secondly, it provides only basic cover - the biggest gap is the potential cost of an air ambulance, and that could cost tens of thousands.
