Dh finally home from hospital, still in lots of pain and unable to move about much but better than when he was admitted, he's off work for a few weeks now and we're just waiting for Outpatient appointments, hopefully with further treatment and plenty of rest he will be back to his old self soon

My car failed mot :( not sure of cost yet but I think around £300  unfortunately all jobs I can't do myself not that I'd be able to do anything at the moment anyway, looking after dh takes up most of the day, and I've now fallen behind on my course, tutor has been great though, going to try to spend the next week catching up a bit

Also been looking for work, dh being unwell has given me a fright, I really need to find work with a regular wage I can count on, my work isn't ever regular so there are times where I won't earn anything, and it's going to be a while before I complete my course and am able to get work related to that. Seems the most available work in my area are for carers, not too sure what to do about that so going to think on it for a while

Got to sort bank and bills later, I know everything's been paid but not sure what's left over for saving, if anything, and if I've overspent on my monthly budget as not kept too good a track on that the last few days, also not sure what sick pay dh will get so goodness knows what his next wage will be :(

One thing's for sure, you never know what's coming around that corner, life is most definitely far too short for worrying about little things

  • Good news, dh gets full pay for 3 months, that's a relief for now, although looking at him I don't know when he's going to be able to go back to work :( still got very limited movement in both arms, on painkillers all day which take the edge off but nothing more, got Dr appt Tuesday to find out what's next

I've applied for a million jobs.....

Bank balance is ok, overspent on monthly budget just a bit but it's manageable, and I've paid off our overdraft, I've never added this into the debt total because its included in my monthly outgoings, being paid off every month and then used again, but I've managed to get rid of it altogether this month so that's some good news :)

Summer hols have been a bit of a washout here, weather wise and dh, only one week left until the children go back to school and I feel like it hasn't been summer yet ! getting the last of the school bits tomorrow morning, dd only needs trousers as I bought everything for her last week, ds1&2 need the whole lot

Plan going forward is to keep paying my set minimum towards debt total but no big extra payments, keep putting spare money away for house savings, and cut back spending as much as poss due to dh being off work incase he's off longer than expected and the full pay ends, fingers tightly crossed this doesn't happen

And I have my last assignment to finish by Wednesday, I haven't even started it, I haven't even read anything relating to the work, it's going to be a fun few days !

What a crazy few weeks it's been,
Dh still off work, he may need an operation, we will know next week, he's still in alot of pain all day every day, but he has been making small improvements, he's been up and out of bed the last few days although I think he may have overdone it as he is suffering today, but still it's progress

Children are now all back at school, my youngest has started secondary so they are now all in the same place which is great for my petrol costs, dd loved the first day but found the second day overwhelming as the whole school were back and there were lots of them and they were all very tall, :) poor thing, she's gone from a very small village school to a very large school, well it's actually quite small in comparison to other secondary's but to dd it's massive ! , so we've had a few tears but hopefully she will have a better day today and make a few more friends,

I managed to get my assignment finished and am now revising for the exam which is in a couple of weeks, I'm feeling more positive now that we've been given an idea of what might be in the paper :)

Also had an interview and am waiting to hear back and have another interview lined up next week, still applying for lots of things in the meantime

Bank and bills have been tackled this morning, bills all done and waiting to leave the account, little put into savings and all debt payments lined up, I do have to tighten our belt alot as there's not a lot of the monthly budget left after the school uniform shop, I went with a list and things were added as the children remembered other things so I ended up spending a small fortune, thank goodness it's only once a year they need so much stuff all at once

So this week I'm feeling much more positive,
    I will find a job,
    dh will get better
our debt total, saving total and general bank balances will not look so scary from now on :D

  • You do sound more positive too - it's nice to hear. I hope DH gets well soon and is pain free even sooner!

Tell me about the uniform - we didn't even get the expensive stuff and it still cost us a fortune.

    Take care x

  • Thanks DebtFree :)

I try to keep uniform costs a low as possible but the amount of things they need is horrendous, the boys have two different tshirts and two different shorts just for pe ! Then I have to buy a pair of trainers and togs each, and all that is just for a weekly pe lesson ! It's crazy but it has to be bought,
Hopefully they will have good jobs at the end of it all and buy me a nice villa in a hot country :D

  • Hahaha yes they better do! Mine aren't at that stage yet. We need indoor only with occasional need for joggers however we've had all of ours handed down so far so I feel lucky.
