Well the summer holidays have finally arrived and the days are already flying by

Not a lot of debt busting done the last few days but I have done quite a bit of spending  those dastardly children have caught me off guard the little monkeys :)

Going to check the bank and book of doom tomorrow, when I will hopefully feel more courageous :D

Just read through your diary and you are doing fantastic! Well done on blitzing those debts.

I really like your attitude to life in appreciating the small and important things. I am trying to find pleasures in the simple things and not get so caught up with things that cost money.

Will keep reading. Good luck with the saving for the house

  • Hi both :)

DebtFree, you have nothing to be sorry for ! You have more than enough on your plate at the moment x

princesst84, thanks for your comment :) I've always had a pretty positive attitude (except the odd day here and there :D ) I did have a blip but I've realised it's the free things life gives us that make the difference, don't get me wrong I do like the odd shopping day and we like to go out places and have holidays but I no longer waste money on stuff that I won't use or remember in a years time !

Just made a small debt payment bringing my total down a little more, I would love to be under £9k next month but realistically I know that's not going to happen, what with the cost of full new uniforms for 3 children (why do they have to grow ! Maybe I should stop feeding them :rotfl: ) and a week away and a few treats over the hols I'll be lucky to have any spare cash at the end of this month never mind next month !

We had a lazyish day yesterday, the children had their pl@ystations, which I really think should be called ragestations, and we watched a bit of TV, I gave the house a clean while dancing to some old CDs (90s :D ) I don't know if Ds2 was more appalled at my dancing with the duster or the awful music his ears were being subjected too :rotfl:
Nothing like a good dance around the house to embarrass the children :)
It's the simple things that make our life happy :D

we are away next week. It will be my first full week in a tent ! And no electric  but we do have gas so dh can wake me with a coffee and a cooked breakfast :rotfl: a girl can dream :) Ds2 found a l1dl and ald1 near to the campsite so I won't need to do any food shopping before we leave which will save a lot of space in the car and stop me over spending as I always panic buy food when we go away !

Reading day today and I also need to finish my assignment, only one more to go and it's the end of my course ! can't wait for a break :D

What will you do when you are finished the course then hun?

At the risk of sounding all mother hen, careful when you go camping as we recently had a disposable bbq incident at work where it made the CO2 alarm go off even when placed away from the tent. It could have been a lot worse. Awful things those disposable ones. Anyway - bar that have a lovely time!

The summer holidays have a lot to answer for and our purses do take a hit don't they - at least we can minimise that if we're thinking about it in advance.

I second the small, free things in life giving us the most pleasure. There's a board for it on the OS forum - I like to read it when I get chance. :)

Oh yes DebtFree I've heard of a few people having 'accidents' with bbq's etc, I wouldn't dream of taking anything in or near the tent, I spend most of my time camping being paranoid about accidents, I never get any sleep in the blinking thing, it's usually a relief to get home and have a nights rest not worrying we're going to be blown away or some other drastic accident my brain has come up with ! My children just laugh at me now because I have so many 'what if's' and 'just incase' :rotfl: we have just bought a gas cooker with its own stand and windshield around it, it will be very far away from the tent and kept outside and already I've thought of 3 dramas that could arise, I wear myself out :rotfl:

I've still got 4 sections left to do on the course so it's just this section that's finishing at the end of August and I then start the next part in October (I've just realised that it does read as I'm finishing the course, that's wishful thinking for you :rotfl: but when I do eventually finish the course I will do teacher training and, fingers crossed very tightly, get a job :D that's the plan anyway, it will depend on my grades but I'm doing well so far and the next sections of the course go into my preferred area so I should do even better :)

I like to call it practical parenting, my children call it being dramatic :)

Thanks :) I've always wanted to be a teacher but family life got to me first so I'm a little late but as they say 'better late than never' and I always think how I'd hate to get to the end of my life wishing I'd done certain things so I try to make sure I do them :) I know not everyone can so I consider myself very lucky, although I don't want to do anything drastic, I've only ever wanted to do two things with my life, 1 open a shop and 2 be a teacher, I've done 1 so I'm on to 2 :)

    Hello LastFew
Just subscribed:) been meaning to for ages.
I too have always wanted and shop and so many people told me I should be a teacher (love children and their excitement and awe for life).
My shop would be arty/crafty/books/stationary and lovely things.

  • Hi Noa :)

Oh I'd love an arts and crafts shop but I would probably keep all the stock for myself :D I had a wedding accessories shop, it was a long held dream and it was absolutely lovely when it came true, but sadly I couldn't manage it and keep my family life going, dh worked away alot back then and I didn't have anyone else to help me out with the children etc, but I also realised I hated being stuck in a shop all day long :rotfl: I hope that doesn't happen once I'm stuck in a classroom all day
