For example a typical UK card has:
Link ATM application (This is generally only on UK cards but all Chip Amex cards worldwide have it)
Card network application (MasterCard Amex visa etc.)
Card reader application (Some UK banks)
Plus or Cirrus ATM network (international use only)
Any network alliances (I.e Amex has an application for limited JCB use in Japan)
Thanks for the clarification. So are you saying that the card reader application used by Visa is compatible with that used by Mastercard? If not then my comment is still valid...Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

This does not seem to get mentioned, but Barclays also give you Kaspersky Internet Security for free, you can put it on 3 machines for which the usual charge is £44.99 a year. I have used it for the last two years and just renewed for another year - all free.
Seems to me to be quite important as a freebie yet never appears when benefits are compared across different accounts.
Is anyone aware of other banks that give free protection software? Apart from trusteer, I realise that there are other packages around for free. I switched from AVG when I got this offer.0 -

I mentioned that on the other thread as one of the benefits of Barclays. If you qualify for the Premier account there are also a number of free benefits that may or may not be of interest. Although I see that you can buy Kaspersky IS 3 PC licence for £15 at Tesco, so valuing it at £44.99 is a bit excessive.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Hi, I have Barclays Home Insurance and the Barclays Current Account Plus, which Barclays no longer sells, and for which I pay £6.50/month (I get £300 fee-free overdraft, mobile phone insurance, extended appliance warranty, gadget cover, etc for this fee).
Am I eligible for this Blue rewards thing, provided that I have more than 2 direct debits and pay in more than £800/month? And if I am, that means I'll get £10 back from Barclays each month, right?0 -

Possibly right - but no-one really knows quite yet as Barclays have still not released the precise terms and conditions.
Have patience! Their website says (today):We’re bringing Barclays Blue Rewards to mobile banking from today.
Will you join us in the blue?
You’ll find it in your mobile banking app and Online Banking over the next few days
Don’t worry if you haven’t got it already – there's no need to call us
You’ll be able to earn rewards and save money soon0 -
I've just signed up via the mobile app so I guess I'm eligible.
If they pay me £10 and I pay them £9.50 (£6.50 acct fee and £3 blue rewards fee), that means I get all the benefits of their Current Account Plus for free - most important ones for me are the £300 fee-fee overdraft and mobile phone & tablet insurance.
Not bad :-)0 -
And the website is down again

The blue rewards button appeared on my app today after an update. However it doesn't tell you how to register(not sure if I need to ). Anyway made an appointment this Friday for an account review. Told them I would like to have more information about this blue rewards as well. Currently paying about £16 for the old Additions plus account. So every little helps.SPC 08 - #452 - £415
SPC 09 - #452 - £2980
