I know this place well.
They are talking nonsense. However there are other things you might consider. The first is to contact the stores there Aldi Iceland and the other - Can't remember who it is off hand.
The name of the firm who owns the land is actually on the VCS boards (or was until recently).
Get in touch with them and ask if VCS have permission to ticket in this area.
Finally - take a look at the boards that are supposedly forming a contract!
Supposedly a correctly issued ticket - if subsequently cancelled will attract a £10.00 fee.
Stuff and nonsense! I'd like to see them defend that clause in court! For it is the board they will be relying on to form the contract. Ha!!0 -
Hi
Glad I'm not the only one on here with the same problem in this parking area. Jess - I thought exactly the same as you when I went to look at the parking sign there to see what it said. The wording is completely open to interpretation and there is no indication that that particular area is restricted. Have you heard anything back yet from your e-mail? I haven't been back to shop their since and I won't ever again. Might contact the stores at the weekend and double check who owns the land. Will walk down and check to see if the signs are the same as well.
Its bloody disgusting and we all ought to stand together to fight this, its so frightening for some people when they get these tickets and they just pay because they don't want any trouble. Parking here was not against the law!0 -
We have received a parking fine for parking in this same unrestricted zone. We have contacted Aldi and Home Bargins as these were the two shops we shopped at. Aldi have responded claiming that it is not their land so supposedly can't do anything and simply advised to contact parking company with receipts. This is unwanted hassle.
I have written back to md asking him to review. We must have parked in those spots over 50 times without any issues as there is no markings.0 -

I too have wrongly received a parking ticket after parking at the side of Iceland at Flora Street car park. According to the ticket, it claims I parked in a 'restricted zone' yet there were no signs outlining this. According to the terms and conditions board displayed in the car park, a restricted zone consists of one with double yellow lines, hatches, entrances, exits and pedestrian walkways so where I parked certainly was neither of these things!
I shop at Flora Street regularly and always park in the same space and this is the first time this has happened to me! A man who was there today informed me that he too had been fined yesterday and said that the ticket warden sits at the top of the road waiting for this particular area to fill up and then he will go and issue tickets (about 7 or 8 at a time). This is very clearly a money-making scam so I have emailed my dispute along with photographic evidence today to the email provided on the back of the ticket. I would strongly advice anyone else in the same situation to do this as it is completely wrong.
I am also looking at reporting this to the trading standards so they can investigate this.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Jess
Yes, I think this is correct as with the timings on my ticket they must have been literally laying in wait.
I can't believe they can get away with this and Aldi are more or less supporting this against their customers. Let me know if you submit to trading standards as something should be investigated.0 -
Hi just joined as I too have been charged this week in this restricted unmarked area next to iceland. there should be a massive sign saying 'no parking' instead!
I'll be following the thread too for help. thanks0 -

Have you contacted Aldi? They wo't be of much help but at least you can let them know you are not happy and won't be shopping there anymore then they might see what damage this is causing to their business and do something.0 -
Here are the contact details for the CEO/Managing directors of the relevant businesses on the Flora street site:
Aldi - Joint MDs - Mr Mathew Barnes and Roman Heini - gmdsec@aldi.co.uk
Home Bargins - Operational Director - Mr Joe Morris - joe.morris@tjmorris.co.uk
Iceland - CEO - Mr Malcolm Walker - malcolm.walker@iceland.co.uk
I would advise contacting all of them and explaining the unfair nature of these fines and as not marked up properly. They may claim they can't do anything etc, but the more people complain and explain they will be taking their business elsewhere then they may start to get the message and realise it's bad for business.
They need to understand that genuine customers will not stand for this.0 -
Think it would be good to contact land owners re fact that the area has no signage showing it is a restricted area. VCS say it is the land owners decision as to whether to put restricted signs etc up and that the land owners are happy that the parking signs themselves are sufficiently clear!
They obviously are not so if enough people write to them complaining again and again then it may help in some way or it might make no difference what so ever. Just an idea, unfortunately I'm no expert on this.0
