We went into Homebase today to look for something for youngest.....we came out of Homebase with 3 tins of paints, a scraper, brushes and roller kit. My parents fared even worse, they went in because they were with us and came out with a dining table and four chairs!
Good deal though for all of us, the paint cost £30 instead of £75 as two large pots were at a half price in a sale but they were also running a 3 for 2 promotion which was still applicable despite the half price reduction. For my parents, the table was less than half price as it was the display one, even better, when they enquired about delivery, the person said they would drop it off on their way home to save them the £30 delivery fee as she had her dad's rather large car at the moment!
Feel the decorating is going to take some time though, I have to scrape the border off in the front room and I made a start and found I can only scrape for 5 minutes before I have to rest and could only do 3 sessions before my back decided it was going to go into spasm and make it so nothing would move.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

And then I forgot for a while.
Why the S-Max over the C-Max? Height? I should go check it out myself, but would be good to get your input as you know more about cars than me.
I went for the S-Max because of the amount of crap I had to cart about at the time. It was a 5 seater with a huge boot most of the time, and excellent at that.
C-Max is on different running gear, so I've got no idea on reliability. Only advice is to give the 1.6 diesel a miss, as anything we've had as a company with that engine has given nothing but problems.LOL to Renault being banned from office! First 2 Renaults we had were OK, and they're just so big and useful - don't know how we'd have coped with clearing my parents flat when they died without such a big car. But this latest one has been a PIA which is a shame as we had a sunroof put in which I doubt we'll be able to do in future.
The guy from the dealership (not from Renault though) has at least 2 mutual business contacts, and quite frankly should have known better when that was established. It's prob all academic anyway as have been reading some of the stuff about DLA to PIP assessments and I really don't think I will get the points to get top rate of mobility, even though I should do. IYSWIM. But even so am interested as we might swap the Hyundai if a Ford either C or S would suit us better.
My first one I still see around occasionally, and even at 9 years old is still running as a licensed taxi (at a guess, it has 350-450000 miles on it now), so not being put off by a 150k motorway mileage car is my advice.
Hope this helps.💙💛 💔0 -

Why the S-Max over the C-Max? Height?
S max is definitely roomy and doesn't feel too big to drive. It's quite a driver's car. He had the 2 litre diesel (it was an 09 plate) but I expect they have changed the engine line up now. Test drove the 1.8 diesel before purchase, which was also fine, but the 2.0 had that little bit extra.
My C max is a 1.6 petrol (11 reg). The main problem is the gearing/engine, which is gutless pulling away at low speeds. You can never pull away in second as it will stall, however high the revs. It's fine once it's going but that is the main reason I would like to change it. We live just off a busy main road and so often have to accelerate out into a gap, and there have been a few heart in the mouth moments.
With both cars we liked the visibility and large amount of glass - really dislike ones with small windows. Both cars good to drive (other than above) and reliable. No provision for a spare at all on the S max - that was a major anti point, but it may have changed since. I have a spacesaver on my C Max.
Access good into both, certainly better than into the Volvo XC60 DH now drives.
Hope that helps.0 -
I wrote a very nice post earlier which has disappeared into the ether. I do want to preserve the recipe I wrote down.
I made a cajun rub which I put on chicken. Crivens it's good. It is 1tsp each of salt, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder plus about half a tsp of chili flakes, 2 tsp sugar and a little black pepper.
I rubbed it in to 4 chicken breasts and left it to soak in for about an hour.0 -
Happy Valentines Day!
Did the Romans really have Saturnalia at this time of year? Seems decidedly chilly for running around nude.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

All sorts of interesting snippets in the news.
Cuba has given the US their missile back. One of the more embarrassing lost baggage stories. Did you know there might be a missile in the hold of the airliner you're flying in?
Also, the Church of England has got into trouble over a call for prayers to be said for Richard Dawkins. Whilst I am sure it was genuinely meant, the irony is delicious. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
One of these days, my body will let me have a lay in on a Sunday...come to that, it will let me have a lay in on any day!
My idea of a lay in is sleeping for 6 hours or more. I'm tired, my body is tired so why doesn't it sleep for longer? We made it!
