Strictly speaking they put them on the ceiling where you can't reach them:D
I invested in a ladder so I can reach mine!
I like the idea of changing the batteries when you change the clocks. They also advertise the idea outside every fire station in Sydney for a couple of weeks before.
As a fellow short person, I wonder if smoke detectors would still work if positioned half way down the wall...? When I've seen film of fires the fire/smoke seems to go up the middle of the room and back down along the wall (presumably the wall is cooler as it only has fire on one side). Probably better to have a working smoke alarm on the wall than a non-working one on the ceiling.
The lump in my mouth started hurting BTW so I assume it's an ulcer. I have a few ulcers at the moment which isn't that pleasant. Oh well, could be worse. I am currently going through the crapping myself because I have my appointment in less than a fortnight phase. I really don't enjoy all this. Other illnesses are so much nicer in that you can just put them behind you. Cancer is rubbish.
You can put smoke detectors on the wall. They won't activate as soon as if placed on the ceiling, but they will work a whole lot better than if you leave them in the box because you can't reach the ceiling. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Listening to the lyrics may be of use for working out that one, and as the office are aware, I'm not in a brilliant mood today either.
I found the lyrics, but I am not much wiser.
Do you have any idea what this bit means:-
Believing, forfeiting the past
The onfall’s adapting the hearts
Itch people will gnaw our wishes, no more
It looks as if somebody fed some Moldovan into an early version of the Google translate engine. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Speak for yourself
Well, yes, I do.
In my family alcohol blighted the potential of a couple of people who had a lot going for them.
It just struck me when I met Bruce from Corrie that he also had such a good role on the show. I always thought they would take him back, but it seems not0 -

I think people already feel like they're broken, that they end up being alcoholic. The alcohol is the comfort blanket, the escape from whatever it is that wanders through their thoughts.
It makes them look broken to everyone else as well, that's all. Mental disquiet alone is invisible.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Apparently he committed the unforgivable sin of letting people know a future storyline. You could be the Pope but if you'd done that, they'd still be no going back. The bloke was his own worst enemy. Can't just blame the booze.0 -

Can't think of any nice illnesses. By definition they are adverse events. Acute onset major events often leave people with deficits, pain and life changing consequences, debiltating disabling long term and/or terminal conditions take away functional capability, communication, cause suffering and shorten lives.
Fear of further events or what the future holds will instill fear in most cases.
None of this lessons the plight of those with cancer or in remission from it.0 -
Just watched Jeremy Hunt on Newsnight. His eyes all over the place, he looked very shifty. I don't think Central Office gave him enough lessons in How to Lie.0

Ah, the sound of my husband destroying one of the smoke alarms.
I'll laugh if it isn't that one.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Oh noes... the doozers up at 3am again. It's as though the detector gods are playing a sick joke on you. Did it work? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Just been woken up by my taxi controller...'Oh, could you do me a favour and run (insert retired couples surname here) to Heathrow? They're going to see their daughter in Australia and asked for you specifically'. I've since found out that the job was put in the system 7 weeks ago, so why I've only been called this morning is beyond me.
Going down to pick up one of the spare cars now💙💛 💔0
