All the Indian IT guys who I worked with and who came over were bemused by all this talk of "going out for a curry".

Curry to them was the verbal equivalent of "gravy" to us.

    You wouldn't say : "I'm off out for a gravy tonight" :)

There was a sitcom / sketch show on TV a few years ago called Goodness Gracious Me, with Sanjeev Bhaskar and Meera Syal.

    From Wikipedia:
One of the more famous sketches featured the cast "going out for an English" after a few lassis. They mispronounce the waiter's name, order the blandest thing on the menu (apart from one of them, who opts for the tastier option of a steak and kidney pie) and ask for 24 plates of chips. The sketch parodies often-drunk English people "going out for an Indian", ordering chicken phall and too many papadums. This sketch was voted the 6th Greatest Comedy Sketch on a Channel 4 list show.[3]

    Fabulous sketch, I thought! :D
It seems that the NHS thinks 100g of meat in a curry is a portion, so that 400grams should've done four portions (not the 3 I got).... but the sauce jar is a "serves 2". So, on reflection, I should've just done it in the nuker with half the meat and the jar of sauce :)

Do you eat much veg? I've just done a SC beef casserole with 1lb beef and lots of veg (tin of toms, tin of beans, butternut squash, stock, onions) which will probably do about 8 portions.

I have a sneaking suspicion that kiwis and strawberries are often related in allergy-groups.

Hmmmm.. And Nikks I think it was said earlier that kiwis and latex allergies are related.

I am allergic to kiwi fruit. I can eat strawberries in moderation, but ideally with something milk based as that neutralises (yoghurt, cream). Mum is allergic to latex but can eat strawberries and kiwi fruit, though she too has to eat the kiwis with milk based stuff.

The only food I am allergic to is grouse. If I eat it I will be awake at 3am puking for an hour and then back to bed with no further ill effects.

I love grouse. Grouse doesn't love me.

Damp and grey this morning. Not too hot and humid though. We're starting to get past high summer now.

Our greenhouse now has a lot more ventilation than it had yesterday. Fortunately it is polycarbonate so we do not have a lawn full of glass.
The green house has lifted off its base. The base remains firmly bolted to the concrete.

I walked the dog in the woods this afternoon. Either brave or foolish.
The wind was quite wild in gusts, then dropped and all was still.

I like curry, locally there are two ok restaurants, near to our old home (20 years ago) there is a very good one, we returned there about 6 months ago and it was excellent. To me very hot curry kills flavours such that you might as well be eating curried cardboard. Curry sauce is one of the few things I do not make from scratch. I usually buy a readymade sauce from the local butchers.

we had lunch at a pub yesterday, we had a couple of young children with us who loved it.There was a huge inglenook fireplace with an enormous fire going, no fire guard. A deep well and an ancient treadmill were in the room next to the bar.

The girls sat at the bar and the barman told them the history of the pub.

The pub is a regular stop on cycling routes. A bit off the beaten track. It is not far but not a usual haunt for us. The food was average but the ambience was excellent, a pub that had not been modernised at all.

Not found any food I'm allergic to yet. If I ever did get allergic to some food I'd hate it to be chillies.

Am I the only one that dislikes curry?

    Nope, I dislike anything spicy/hot.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Sue Just seen your post on Mooloo's thread. So sorry to hear you're ill :( Have you been to the GP?

    Erm.......nope!

I'm terrible for going to the doctor, I always feel like I am wasting their time.

justgot in from an emergency trip to the vet our dog was quiet this evening, and would not eat. Totally out of character.

They wanted to keep him in for bloods and xrays. We stayed with him in the waitingroom, and have brought him home tonight. He is to go back in the morning for a scan.

Something showed up on xray but not clear enough for a diagnosis, the scan will provide more information.

He is asleep at my feet now.

OH and I are very anxious dog parents tonight. He is our boy.
