I'd have not done that - I'd have balanced their ability to make it mucky/damage it -v- my "right to show them I'm RIGHT"
The owners don't have to damage the environment that they plan to live in, by driving across the pavement and verge (which they have utterly destroyed). They could pile all the rubble up on the part of the site nearest the road, then use the grab to load the lorry. It doesn't save them all that much work to drive the lorry illegally across the pavement.
I think I have made my point, and they have promised to work differently in future. I am expecting them to break their promise tomorrow, so watch this space. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Those volvo owner, think they can park anywhere. Without a thought how you will get your truck out. No wonder you are annoyed!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. The driver was sweet about it. I apologised to him for holding him up. Clearly not his fault. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Oh no, Spirit
So very sorry to hear about your lovely boy. Such a horrible shock for you. DSIL lost his first guide dog in similar circs - she had been panting one evening so they took her to the vet the next morning, and turned out she had a heart tumour.
Generali So sorry you have this new worry. At least it's happened just when you were due for a checkup anyway! Sending best wishes and ((HUGS)) (I think Mrs G wouldn't mind about the hugs in the circs.)0 -

An RSJ on a studio flat's a lot more intrusive than adding, say, an orangery to the West Wing, where you only venture Feb-Apr each year.
And, I bet, it means there's plenty of opportunity to wangle in stuff like holidays and being taken out to lunch "to get away from the mess".
We have a very small house. 2.5 bedrooms. no downstairs loo, only one bathroom. We are considering converting the existing kitchen to a downstairs bathroom and bedroom. The extension will be alongside that. A single storey kitchen /sitting room & bootroom. We think we want "bungalow living" downstairs and to conver upstairs to two beds/2 baths. We may knock the existing garage and so useful utility down.
I have had a rehearsal for old age and think this kind of living would work for us, now and in the future. We are not looking at this as financial gain, but somewhere to live and entertain
If I fail my driving re-test all bets will be off, we will look to create an extension that adds the most value and sell as we are too remote from services.
During the build I could live here , borrow a house ( my friend is only in his 5 bed house two days a week at most), rent a flat, rent abroad and OH rent a place here, and of course dine out.0
