If we all delete all our posts we could stay here forever!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. So sorry to hear your news Spirit xxxWe made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
The first year as a single parent was hard when it came to the holiday, everywhere I looked there were families with two parents and couples and then there was me, on my own, with 3 children.
It got easier after that though and now I don't even think about it.
I can do it, but I can't see the point. If there isn't going to be at least one adult for me to talk to, then I'd rather be at home. The main point of a holiday, to somebody of my temperament, is to have relaxed and uninterrupted time to spend with people. In truth I don't like spicy food full stop.Nope, I dislike anything spicy/hot.
I'm with the two of you on that.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Thanks all for the kind words.
Tonight we went to the cinema to see Dad's Army. Actors playing actors, but the characters were allowed to develop, we liked it.
Saw it at the very comfy everyman cinema in Winchester, sat on sofas drinking fresh mint tea.It was very civilised.0 -
More than anything else I appreciate good wishes. I know I get jittery every time I have a checkup.
Sending thoughts and hugs and prayers. Glad to hear the timing has worked out so you don't have to wait long before asking the doc about it.We lost our boy today.
He had a mass in his heart and a mass in his spleen. There were no treatment options.
He was very flat this morning, Oh had to carry him in from the garden. The scan gave us the worst possible news .
Sometimes you have to love the enough to let them go.
We have packed away his belongings. Hoovered up dog hair. My darling husband is heartbroken.
Time will heal. We are so sad. There is a big hole in our daily life.
Oh Spirit. I am so sorry to hear that. They do indeed leave a huge huge hole in life. The hardest thing to face is going out for a walk now with OH. Dreading it. Will pull ourselves together. We have had lots of practice at pulling ourselves together.
For several months after we had to love Avatar Dog enough to let him go, I used to whistle for him on walks every so often, just so I could feel as if he was still there. The thing I found hardest was walking into an empty house instead of to an effusive greeting.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Um, urh, welcome!
Avios (in new currency) are supposedly worth 1p a go, from those that have tried to put a value on them. So 12,000 Avios as against a charge of £200. Suggests it not worth it, unless you need them for something. I'm sure if you stick around michaels will suggest a cashback credit card.
On a BA staff fare upgrade on Long Haul, unfortunately not allowed past WT+ (Premium economy)
We didn't pay an unreasonable price to Singapore last time, and aren't paying an unreasonable price next week either (in CW) through Hotline
It wasn't worth paying full whack in WT/WT+ and using points to upgrade though, although I'm sure I'll find a niche flight to use the stack of Avios that have been acquired at some point, but it'll probably be MH in either the B763 or an ex-BMI A321.
I refuse to pay to upgrade (although dispatch have no problem with it if there are seats available for free) on SH as the product is quite frankly disgusting for the extra cost.💙💛 💔0
