justgot in from an emergency trip to the vet our dog was quiet this evening, and would not eat. Totally out of character.
They wanted to keep him in for bloods and xrays. We stayed with him in the waitingroom, and have brought him home tonight. He is to go back in the morning for a scan.
Something showed up on xray but not clear enough for a diagnosis, the scan will provide more information.
He is asleep at my feet now.
OH and I are very anxious dog parents tonight. He is our boy.
Just a thought - has he been out in the garden alone and feasted on polycarbonate from the greenhouse? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Thinking about you and doglet, SpiritEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Oh Spirit, so sorry about your boy
I hope it turns out to be nothing much xx
Bah, am sick of wiping my nose  We had to say we'd better not do after-school care today, as I'm sure I'd sneeze all over the DGKs. We're not needed tomorrow, and I hope things will have improved by Thursday.0 -
Sorry to hear about the doggie Spirit.
FiL's dog is on her last legs I think. I suspect the next trip to the vet will be a one-way trip.
On a lighter note, I've got the next radiotherapist visit on Tuesday and I have a small painless lump around about where my remaining complete parotid gland is. It's only been there for a few days and I'm sure it's nothing and it's nothing like the other lump I had so there's nothing to worry about. I'll mention it though. It definitely needs mentioning.
I'm sure you'll all be relieved to hear that after a gloomy damp start today the sun came out and my journey home was bathed in sunshine.0 -

Gen,I'm not a Doctor, so not a diagnosis! It's quite normal for 'lumps' to appear, even a year or so after Radiotherapy, due to build up of scar tissue from the Radiotherapy. My brother had similar.
Hope all goes well.0 -

Cheers mystic_trev.
The lump is on the other side from both the last tumor and thus the treatment which is bad.
The lump is small and only been there for few days which is fine.
I had a sore throat and the right side of my tongue was in bloody agony I think as a result of sensitivity resulting from old treatment (boo but not life threatening).
The lump bothers me. It's on a list of 1 thing to bring up with the doc. He's very good and we'll see what he says.
One of the things that I find difficult about dealing with post-cancer is that you are 'better' but may well not be anything of the sort. It's a bit like if you broke your leg and the doc said, "Well Sir, We've fixed your leg but on any given day there is about a 1:5,000 chance it will just randomly break again. Lifestyle might have an impact but we don't really understand that".
Would you play soccer again? Cricket? Go for a walk on uneven ground? Sit on a bar stool? Cross the road?
More than anything else I appreciate good wishes. I know I get jittery every time I have a checkup.0 -
We lost our boy today.
He had a mass in his heart and a mass in his spleen. There were no treatment options.
He was very flat this morning, Oh had to carry him in from the garden. The scan gave us the worst possible news .
Sometimes you have to love the enough to let them go.
We have packed away his belongings. Hoovered up dog hair. My darling husband is heartbroken.
Time will heal. We are so sad. There is a big hole in our daily life.0 -
Gen, good wishes on their way.0

We lost our boy today.
Aww, that's sad.
"At least" it happened quickly, so you didn't have to suffer the long conversations about what might happen, or could happen, watching him deteriorate, with differing opinions.
Although one last visit to his favourite place would've been nice to plan.
Dodgy hugs to you and yours. :grouphug:0 -
Gen, hope all goes well, I'm sure it is natural to be nervous.
