It's OK GDB, I'm teasing.
That cardigan I fancied in John Lewis sale dropped in price, so have ordered it... Free postage, and free return if doesn't fit or doesn't suit. The photos make it look absolutely horrible, which is why I guess it hasn't sold. I think it might be really nice, but if it isn't I can send it back for free. So nothing to lose by at least trying it on at home.0 -

Oh, I'm mortified.
Fortunately, I've drunk quite a lot of NZ SB in celebration of the fact that we've sent off all six required tax returns for the family. What's more, the tax is all covered by the payments made on account for the year.
And can we have a link to the cardigan? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Maggie It was something that was said up-thread when someone's autocorrect changed smoking to smocking, or vice versa, can't rememebr now!
Aww....Viyella smocked dresses....<reminisces happily> My DD1 had one of those, though I didn't make it, my mother bought it for her.
I remember wearing white nylon seersucker smocked dresses when I was about 4 - 5. I loved the pretty colours in the smocking
ETA: Ah, you already knew about the smocking/smoking
Also, WELL DONE on the tax returns GDB! Definitely an occasion for NZ SB!0 -

Well done on that! Mine went in a while ago and I got a letter from them saying I don't need to fill in the forms any more! Once the crazyness off the next few days of folks trying to get things done I'll get back in touch with my accountant and see what he says. House sale might complicate stuff, even though he tells us CGT won't be a problem for us.

The model in the pictures in the link above the picture I've copied looks really frumpy in the photos, but looking at the structure of the jacket/cardigan/coat I think it might be something very nice. Well I'll find out in about a week! :rotfl:0 -
Just put on Grand Designs and the bloke is wanting to build a house like what he saw on a yoghurt pot! :rotfl:  :rotfl:0

I rather think I might still have my test smocking stuff on the patterned viyella knocking around in some of the piles of stuff we have knocking around in the house... It was a very soft beige with a bushy flowery pattern on it in soft olive and rust and green and ochre colours. I wish could still get it nowadays! Smocking was in rust and olive green I think.0 -
Spinster is fine. Just don't smock.
I'll have you know I have never smocked of any variety:eek:PasturesNew wrote: »Ah, but one of ill repute.... a fallen woman, having lived in sin, over the brush ... and all those other charming phrases we used daily a few decades ago
Or, as a landlord seeking eviction of my GG-gm coined it for the judge "immoral characters"
I wish I could have a slight air of sin, but even living in a state of unmarriedness, does not raise an eyebrow.ukmaggie45 wrote: »Just put on Grand Designs and the bloke is wanting to build a house like what he saw on a yoghurt pot! :rotfl:  :rotfl:
Brilliant. That is exactly as it should be..

I'd be interested to hear what colour that actually is. I thought moss is green, but that looks like brown? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Is this another parental responsibility of the 21st century? Completing offspring tax returns? My parents never completed mine, then again self assessment may be relatively new.
I look forward to the time when one of the boys has sufficiently complex income to be required to complete one.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Looks brown to me. For PN, the 5' 10" model in the photo has it reaching her knees.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
