Would a small tripod work, Maggie? I've got an ancient one from my Dad, but it seems to do the trick as long as you can balance it on a sufficiently wide base.

Probably would - I keep meaning to fetch one from the front room. Currently have 2, one for the telescope (strictly speaking an Adlerscope) and one for camera. Both are a bit broken, so next time they're on sale in A*di or L*d* I'll prob get a new one. Only trouble is I'll prob trip over it in the middle of the night when making my 4am trip to the bathroom! ;):o

A doggy question for fellow NPs.

Lottie has just been spayed the other day.

She has the hard plastic collar on, but is struggling to rest with it.

Are there better versions available which are more comfortable?

I just googled Elizabethan dog collar, and there are loads, but I thought this one looked quite comfortable.

    Thanks for the advice.

I did ring the vet. They are sending over a soft inflatable collar to our local vets when I take the dog in tomorrow. We can try that I guess.

That looks just like North Norfolk, only much warmer. And sharks? And Salties? And jelly fish?

Nah, that's too far south for salties. Sharks natch but they don't really cause any problems. There are 1-2 deaths a year in Aus from shark attack.

Increasingly it's home to these beggurs that really do bother me:

There is an increasing belief that these things are really quite deadly, perhaps killing in numbers approaching the European honey bee in Aus, i.e. a dozen people a year. The thing is that I suspect there is a lot of mis-diagnosis happening and under reporting as a result.

By comparison, 15,000 die of smoking each year in Aus IIRC

Nobody dies of smocking as far as I know.

I forgot to say, thanks very much for the tax correction info, all done last night, if I hadn't been told I might well have put it off for a while. Just a shame that making these mortgage arrangement costs revenue rather than capital cost £1500 but only saves £100 :(
    I think....

Most likely they'll find them in the fields of Somerset.

Did any of the Wurzels have nasty accidents?

That's what I would have suggested. Looks like a rubber ring.

The 'cone of shame' becomes the 'ring of chagrin'.

I picked it up today. I thought the vets might help me put it on / try it out given it was double the Amazon price, but nope.

I've a feeling I'm going to introduce the dog to Lilo addiction. :(
