You can't do a lot with £2 .... even if you saved it for 5 long years, once a week you'd have £500.... versus 250 chances to win £1million.
Compelling!
IMO the odds are so against winning that I'd rather just be sure of the £500
OH did buy a few tickets, as he often does for the Saturday draw, but as he [STRIKE]stubbornly[/STRIKE] determinedly sticks to his usual numbers and then buys just one lucky dip it wasn't surprising that he didn't win anything.
I had an aunt who was very often lucky in raffles, so when we were living abroad for a few years and she came to visit, she bought just one ticket for the local lottery. She was utterly confident that she'd win a prize, and flabbergasted that she didn't
ETA That looks a lovely brekkie, PN, and it will have helped you to keep warm on such a nasty day.0 -
Only number I got was the extra one! 48, year of my birth.
(that's 1948, not 48 AD!

Serves one, only one, mostly vegetarian, no "posh/new foods" or buzz words, a peanuts budget, won't cook, want to just eat in under 15 minutes, want to keep things flexible, no getting fancy and as few ingredients as possible. Mostly cooking in a jug, serving on a plastic plate, minimal washing up/effort.
Healthy? Who cares.
Can I use gluten free ...? I don't know/care, I've just done what I know. Your problem.
Would that also work in my XYZ gadget? No idea, don't care. You bought XYZ, I've never seen one, you work it out.
I only use "proper plates" if a meal's hot.... toast, toasties, sandwiches, etc are all served on picnic plates (easier to wash up and you don't run out of proper plates)
Purely functional then. Designed to keep you alive! I'm slightly glad you haven't invited me to dinner.0 -
Bit annoyed to have to share the jackpot to be honest but I suppose £30 million will do.0

Compare and contrast.
I'm glad to be sharing my jackpot win with a fellow NP'er0 -
Lovely and fresh out today for my long run. Makes a change from incessant rain.
I reckon I'm 75% on the way to marathon distance now, so I should be able to do it I reckon.
It was a bit disturbing to see a cyclist being treated on the road : it looked like he had been knocked clean off his bike by a car. Let's hope it wasn't too serious. I should be refuelling but my appetite has gone.

The advice on this morning's cookery show was to basically avoid processed food.
Will we ever get free from our addiction to pre-prepared meals? How would the supermarkets make their money instead?0 -

What marathon time are you aiming for?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
What marathon time are you aiming for?
I'm trying to be realistic really. I'm the wrong side of 50, and I can't really compare with all the spritely young things you see.
DW bought me a running book for Xmas, which talked about adopting a run/walk strategy.
To achieve a marathon time of 4 - 4.5 hours, it suggests running for 7 or 8 mins, then walking for 1 min.
Luckily the running watch supports interval training. I ran 30Km today using 8 min + 1 min. It's the hill climbs which slow me down, so I ended with a time of 6:12 per km. At that rate I would complete in a time of 4 hrs 20 mins, which I would be happy with. If it's a flatter marathon and I up my cardio training I might get closer to 4 hours, but I just want to finish whilst sticking to the plan.
[sorry to the non-runners! I'm sure this all sounds as dry and dull as ditch !]0 -
York is a flat marathon and not until early October, think they started allocating places last week.Spend less now, work less later.0
