Virgin keep boosting the speed every few years.

    My speed test result.

This is via wireless. OH has the direct line into his computer, so I'll ask him to test it. Yesterday I had really rubbish numbers, but I think OH was online at the time. He's making chicken soup this evening! :money:

We're entering at work, 12 of us in a syndicate. Plus a lucky dip we won on Wednesday; so that's 13 lucky dips. Fingers crossed!

I've sold my 2 bed terrace in Wood Green and invested the total proceeds in lottery tickets, so I have six chances to win tonight.

You need to write it into your will, that if you win the lottery after your death, then EVERY penny has to go on the biggest memorial to you that it's possible for ALL the money to buy. See, you CAN take it with you!

    :)

I think you have to claim in person so it might be tricky!

Have we reached the time where you are more likely to win than die before the draw?

There are 500,000 deaths a year in the UK. That's equivalent to 1 person in 1 million dying every hour. The chance of a ticket winning (or at least sharing) in the jackpot is 1 in 45 million. So, if you buy your ticket an hour before the draw, you are 45 times as likely to die beforehand as to win the jackpot.

Therefore, you would have to leave your purchase until around 1 minute before the draw in order to have an equal chance of dying or winning the jackpot. In practice, I think that ticket sales end 30 minutes before.

I hope that helps. For all practical purposes, it actually couldn't be you, I'm afraid.

PS: There's a flaw in that analysis, in that it assumes that everyone is equally likely to die in the next hour. In fact, most of the people who are going to die in the next hour are currently in no fit state to buy a lottery ticket.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Got my usual numbers on the Lottery, plus OH has done a lucky dip (he only does that when there's a significant rollover). Then I decided to have an extra ticket, but the Lottery website was down. So sent OH down to local newsagent to purchase my new numbers. :o

He enjoyed the walk, plus got anther chance to wear his new coat that arrived this morning. John Lewis sale - £48 reduced from £160! :j Bargain! He does look good in it - and he's going to sling most of his tatty old coats now thank goodness! :j Sometimes it's worth trawling the online Jan sales!

I have had a coat and 3 skirts arrive this morning. So far have tried on one skirt and it fits OK. Will try the other 2 skirts and the coat tomorrow. Had a bath around lunchtime, so that's taken most of today's energy. :o

Some statistician said (on the box this morning) that if a Harry Potter book was opened randomly and a word chosen off that page. Then someone else opened the book randomly and chose a word, they would still be 45 times more likely to choose the same word than to win the lottery!
