That's lir, NDG, fc, Inspector, treliac,ss555s, Dave, missk, wageslave and doubtless many more. Plus of course lovely Lydia, who still pops by but less frequently.
A bit late, but Happy New Year from me too. Just popping in and lovely to see all the old names.
Thanks viva !

Good to see you tre! Hope you are well and things are good for you in your part of sunny Hertfordshire.
I was thinking of you recently, iirc you took out the five year fixed at the same time as us with HSBC. We've just taken out a three year with them at 1.99%, after which we should be mortgage free. It was easy to switch and no valuation or intro fees as already a customer. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Hi viva, yes we did. That came to an end in 2014. When it finished we stuck with the svr as we were nearing the end and last year we reached the blissful position of being mortgage free. The hard work and overpayments have really paid off and the sense of freedom is fantastic.
Glad you will soon be there yourself.0 -

How lovely to hear from you, treliac! :hello:
Hope all is going well with you. Now you've made it back in here, do stick around if you can spare the time.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Thanks! So pleased for you! Because of uncertainty over my skin and DH multiple ops, we decided to chuck everything at repayments rather than having reno work done. The idea was to give ourselves security in case one or both of us had to give up work. Thankfully that is increasingly unlikely but it's nice to have one less thing to worry about if we do. Though we now have a ton of work we want to do when it is paid off. At least we can take our time over that. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Thanks Lydia, I always intend to spend a bit more time, then life gets in the way! A weak excuse I know .....I'm too much of an all or nothing person.
Lovely to speak with you again too.

I think that's one of main benefits. Actually and really owning your house. That feeling of security now the hard work's been done and that we can manage now if life does change.
I'm sorry to hear that you have had all those continuing anxieties and glad that you will get there before too much longer.0 -

Me too. Most of the time I'm in here at least every day or two. If I get too busy, I can be absent for weeks, but when I come back I'm right back to being on the thread frequently and reading every post. I don't seem to be able to do "dropping in every so often".I think that's one of main benefits. Actually and really owning your house. Totally agree. I paid off my house in the summer of 2014 when I finally got the compensation for LNE's accident and I love the sense of security, coupled with the "no longer having to watch every penny" thing that Sue was describing so well a few posts ago.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
