A colleague from work introduced me to this website today:

I have been crying with laughter since. Especially at the "horses".

Some observations from DS1 on his first proper Xmas age 21.

    1. They do stuff that none of them enjoy just because it's Xmas eg pantomime trip without kids
    2. Never has he seen so many presents at any one time.
    3. Everyone drinks, continually, every day, from morning to night.
    4. Apart from GF's mother going off to church once, no one does anything religious at all.
    5. They made him most welcome.

From my posts over the last few weeks you could play NP Bingo and find most of these. Booze available but not over indulged @ Christmas lunch DD and our two guests did not drink . An embarrassment of presents. Organised religeon is optional, some off to worship, some icons. Hospitality guaranteed.

Oh finished 23rd , back on 4th. DD working between christmas and new year. Wen I worked I would often work between Christmas and new year, Working the holiday days if I was "on call".

DD has 4th off as it is her Birthday She treats it as a holy day of obligation and is pretty outraged that her dad will not be off. Her boyfriend is in attendance, conscripted I think.

When my mum was alive I would journey to collect her and bring her home to us for christmas and then OH would take her back before new year. I loved the journey to get her, the motorways were always busy, it was lovely to see her, and stopping off for a bite to eat as we travelled home. She would have had her hair done and be wearing her best coat and all set for a round of carol services, village nativity, and masses alongside our family celebrations and rituals. The trials of traffic were worth it and what I would give to be able to do it one more time.

I plan to make a raised pie over the next few days. A game pie of my own creation. Heavens knows what it will taste like, opinions welcome .Suggestions on what to add in or leave out valued.

    Ingredients

    Pheasant
    2x partridge
    Pigeon
    2xchicken breasts
    black pudding (1.5 rings)

I have fresh thyme, parsley and rosemary, Onions, garlic, cranberries.

planning to take the meat off the bones and make a game stock to set it all.

I would like to have it cold for tea on New years day.

Lunch almost all prepped for tomorrow

Only just got home and fired up computer... So this gone already.

Hope that you had good news earlier.

(lemme know if you want me to delete this)

Please don't quote this one, too.....

There are some concerns regarding scaling, short-term financial viability and where the bulk of the financing is coming from (sale and leasebacks), however on a smaller scale, the answer won't be no, so back to the drawing board :)

Drove to the other side of the city and it was windy enough on the way there. Dined with some friends and on the way back the storm was building up. Had to stick to the speed limit, bins were blown over and rubbish was blowing all over the road. Not great to be out tonight.

There's not much fat in there, it's likely to be dry. I'd add some streaky bacon or something to make it all a bit moister.

It is v windy here too. Not a good day to live on top of a hill.

Don't worry about fence pastures. They are a cheap repair. What most people have done here, where it is also v windy, is to have the fence uprights reinforced with short concrete posts. Cost me £150ish to have three done. You don't need a fencing co, it's a gardener or good handyman job.

They basically dig a hole, dig out any broken concrete, pour in new concrete, plonk in a new concrete post and bolt it through, then prop it until the concrete sets. Mine also used a string line and one of those things with bubbles in that I've forgotten the name of to make sure it is square.

I really should wake up before posting:o

Here's a clue to my fiendishly difficult one-off quiz...

My first is an esteemed poster around these parts
My second is how she is headed...
