Ahhhh. Fir wins, by a country mile :)

Congratulations to him, and to you. Enjoy :j :D;)

Edit: Though I was supposed to (finally) be getting my front door tomorrow. I paid the deposit in September. Just found an email saying tete waiting for the frame so can we do the first week in May now :(
I'm sure they're going to do a good job, but it feels like it's never going to happen.
But it gives me the chance to ask for NP advice...

    Knockers.

Should I get a door knocker? I'm tempted by a woodpecker one, but not sure where I'd put it on the door without cluttering it. I don't expect it to get much use. And perhaps the woodpecker isn't as very clever idea (I don't really like the traditional urn ones). Thoughts?

Google 'unique door knocker'. There's loads.

You'll need some form for people to notify you of their presence. I've always been one for a knocker. I don't think I've ever purchased a doorbell!

I can beat that. Over 6 hours sat in an airport. Still over an hour until my flight.

Its not all bad though. I've bought enough booze in the airport shop to look like an alcoholic (for once I'm not getting the train home so I won't have to carry it. There might be a few beers in my checked luggage too... :o

Have just logged on for my hours free Internet :)

Won't be helpful today, but if you switch your device to airplane mode and then back to normal, it resets the IP address or something, so
You can log on for anoher hour ad infinitum.

Except, who ARE these people? Annoying door canvassers, dodgy types and trick or treaters. Well, life's too short.

    :)

My bell doesn't work. If I'm not expecting you, you can s0d off as I'm not answering the door anyway as I'm probably wearing a thong, a baggy T shirt, odd socks and haven't brushed my hair yet today :)

Oooh, useful. Thanks Doozer. They have restricted the free wifi at Gatwick, so that will be a useful trick.

Not something I ever need to hear about/read about, I've not got one :)

Actually there seems to be some scam where you can pay in 2880 each year into your pension and the govt then gives you 720 then at 55 you can get back 25% of what you put in tax free and the rest subject to your marginal tax rate (which might well still be nil for you?) so free monies :)
    I think....

Is it possible I have seen you in a couple of movies where you get called on by a handy man?

What if it's Mr. Right looking for somewhere to moor his trusty steed? I don't have a doorbell. He needs some way to get my attention...

Thanks for the link doozer, will get looking. And for the Internet tip. No plans to jet off anywhere for a while now, but you never know when that trick will come in handy.

He can tie his horse to the gate and ring the bell. Simples.

Trust me .... blokes don't randomly turn up, riding horses, looking to sweep damsels off into the sunset.... or I'd not be here typing this right now.

    Congratulations Fir.
Hope you can relax abd unwind. It can be an anti climax even when a horrible job ends, so don't be surpised if you have a down reaction.
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Clearly not, as you typed that three or four hours after sunset. You need to be alert around 6 ish tomorrow.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
