What? Blackmail! This is a perfectly innocent discussion about dinner.0 -
OK - have not only updated the laptop/tablet cross to windows 10 which is allegedly tricky but also done a clean install to get rid of the pesky win 8.1 recovery partition which otherwise just takes up space.
However despite hopefully having rooted and installed recovery on the android kitkat device for some reason I can not successfully flash the unofficial lollipop rom - Anyone any suggestions why not?
(I'm really glad the interweb was off yesterday so it was today's problem)I think....0 -

There's definitely a downside here, some unspoken problem that I'm not aware of. I just don't see it.0 -
It's a bit pants here at the moment Gen. Big parts of the country are underwater, incl parts of the city centres in Leeds and York.
Everywhere else it s just bleurgh and doesn't feel like Christmas. It's more like a wet October, but the sun has hardly been out for the last two months and the days are at it shortest. Plus if you go for a nice walk in the country the ground is totally sodden.
It's as though the whole country has seasonal affective disorder. All we need is nice, sunny, dry day. Unfortunately when it is dry, you still get total cloud cover.
Not out to speak for Pastures, but that's how I feel. I imagine if you are by yourself and stuck indoors, that must be even worse. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

But I think Gen was just saying "Gratuitous scoffery ... that's the whole point, nothing wrong with that." of the unspoken downside that he can't see.
His tone is to be read with humour.
Ah, ok, get it. It has been a v odd Christmas though. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? It's only when I read PN's subsequent post that I saw what you were saying. My point was that there is no downside to stuffing yourself with food on a once-a-year basis (hahaha).
I noticed that my family got quite annoyed when I said the weather had been dodgy in England. I guess that's why.
Some terrible bush fires down in VIC this year. Poor beggurs. Well over 100 homes gone and a lot more people terrified that they've lost everything. A cool change has gone through now thankfully which will dampen things down a bit. It causes its own problems though as the wind changes direction erratically; a problem if you are fighting the fire from downwind and up close.0 -
Well over 100 homes gone
The DM website's not really very good at covering this current England flooding situation.... but the whole of the North is under water if it's within 1/2 a mile of a watercourse. Leeds and York are flooded, for example, cities. Not just a few remote villagers in a bit of a dell.
Thousands ... and thousands. Hundreds of houses gone. A 200 year old pub on a bridge half washed away.
Mostly all places that haven't flooded like this either ever, or since the 1960s.
The Met Office, who normally give out one Red Warning per year issued TWO at the same time in the last two days in this place.
Even some flood defences have been breached - and newly/quickly installed temporary ones breached - and formal ones have had to be opened (to flood other places) as the floods were about to take out electricity stations.
Even Manchester's started to be flooded .... which is when people realised there IS a God!
There's also been a gas explosion somewhere, as a direct result of the flooding - and that area's in "lockdown".
And, more rain to come Mon/Tuesday. Then there will be fierce 70mph winds - and, after that, Wed/Thu there are rain warnings.0 -
I was thinking of doing stuffed turkey breast for NYE. I like to stuff a big bird with some sausage at this time of year. The trick is to get them nice and moist.
I did this on Xmas Eve. Went down a storm and the resulting sandwiches are the best, ever.
I made a different, chestnut stuffing.
Edit: Would help if I showed it.

What is happening in Vic is horrible. I was really surprised when I saw which Great Ocean Road towns were affected though, as there is a lot of scrubland around them as much as bush. It is very unlucky.
I think it is the strongest El Nino for over two hundred years and the weather is just weird everywhere.
I do quite like the idea of being able to scoff in an unrelenting manner and not think about the weather, floods bushfires and so on.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
