Yesterday finally spoke to someone in Sky who logged the fault with BT openreach (apparently it is not possible to do this directly) and was told 5 working days for an engineer to investigate the fault that was outside the property.
Today it is working again
Which means I can sale shop and spend a lot of time putting lollipop onto a tablet and windows 10 onto a tablet/laptop hybrid.
Sometime over the break I need to do the tax returns, someone please incentivise me
I was struggling with the motivation (as usual) to do mine too, but a friend wanted to borrow some money, so I had to work out what my tax bill was, to see if I had enough free cash to lend her what she needed (I don't tend to keep much in cash anyway, but with the ftse being so low I invested nearly all my free cash). It was tight (especially when 3 service charge bills arrived), but I just managed it. I haven't submitted it yet, I like to reflect on it for a week or so, before submitting.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
Its suddenly become beautifully sunny! I wasn't expecting that. The weather forecast was for grey. Windy, though. Are NPs prepared for flooding?
Not me, I live on top of a hill. I should prepare for bush fires. I can't imagine we'd actually burn down but I could well imagine us being evacuated at some point.0 -

It used to be easier, with one deadline, now it seems there are lots of different deadlines. Isn't it 31 January?
Yes 31st Jan, but I think it takes up to a couple of weeks for the IR to confirm what exactly your bill is, although you could do it at the last minute, and simply subtract what you paid in advance last year yourself, from their calculation sheet.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Normally I do it as soon as we get all the interest received letters as we have a few hundred quid refund. This year when we owe more than 20k it just seems less pressing....:oI think....0 -
I can't do my tax return. OH is waiting for crucial information on something that effects my return.
I don't understand what it is, but I just have to wait.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Ouch, that's definitely too much to pay back via the tax code too, so I can see why you might procrastinate.
I have a main, full time job that's PAYE as well as little different bits and pieces incl dividends, so my actual non-taxed income is pretty small. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Just in case you didn't know, and you can't get the info in time, you are allowed to submit your return with an estimated figure as long as you declare it as such.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Thanks but it is a case of either X had a value and there is tax to pay on the gain or X had zero value and there is more tax to pay. So it is an either/or rather than an estimate.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
