One lazy son not even awake.

After suggesting that dinner tonight should be served at lunchtime, he hasn't even surfaced! By the time he does appear it will be almost dark.

Merry Christmas from wild and windy Wales - at least the rain's stopped for a bit! :)

OH just putting the plates in to warm, so roast chicken is imminent! Not worth getting a turkey when it's only the 2 of us. But we are having the works with it - bread sauce, stuffing, bacon, chipolatas and so on. Home made redcurrant jelly too. Yum!
  • Merry Xmas all..... (Again, as apparently Xmas comedy is 'verboten')

Rain's back again, with wind too - horizontal rain... I'm sure PN knows what I speak of! ;)

Chicken was delish and tender, the sprouts perfectly cooked, the home grown kale yummy and the bread sauce nice and spicey. Nice crispy roasty - I can never manage more than one at Christmas as there's so much else to eat! :o OH had to smash through the lid of the redcurrant jelly to release the vacuum, it was very tasty and now I have plans thet next year we'll do some mint and redcurrant jelly as we eat quite a lot of slow roast lamb... Crispy bacon, and lovely stuffing from my Mum's recipe - used sage and parsley growing here in that. Sadly OH forgot to cook the allotment parsnip and carrots! Would prob have been too much with those too, so will do them with leftovers tomorrow.

Just about fifteen minutes before dinner was due to be cooked our lights and cooker and boiler went off.

Eventually traced the problem to our main gas oven where the electrics had failed. Thankfully the hob still works as does the small oven and grill on top. With a bit of juggling we managed to finish cooking the dinner.

Once firms are back to work will have to contact someone to fix the main oven. Still have not heard from the people selling the bungalow I liked about my last offer apart from the offer made through EA to sell me the carpets and furniture they did not want for an extra £8K  Strangely enough I did not leap at this amazing idea!!! The phrase "No way on God's green earth!" was heard to pass my lips. Quite proud I remained polite.

    Happy Christmas to all.

Happy Christmas to all NP, and commiserations to those for whom things haven't gone quite according to plan!

elona £8K? I should cocoa/koko (or however it's spelled in this instance)!

silvercar I hope DS got up in the end. I so sympathise with your frustration, as our DS is just the same. We've had lunch at our DD1's the last few years and DS now gets up when he feels like it and has his lunch in the early evening with a friend. No more waiting impatiently for him to follow on to DD's "a bit later", phew!

Frozen....sodden and best/clean jeans ruined/muddy by a dog that kept jumping up them :( So, now wearing "not the jeans I intended to wear at all" .... and frozen through.

I'll never get a dog. Ever. Never. It won't happen.
    ...

We live next to the golf course. A few months back Lottie our puppy jumped up at a golfer going into the course in his fresh clean beige golfing trousers. She's too friendly I'm afraid.

We were mortified seeing these dirty paw prints down the front, but he took it in good spirit.

One of my fave Belgian beers is Verboden Vrucht bier.

What do people use to post pics on here? (I've forgotten what I used :( )
