    Happy Christmas to all.
Just enjoying peace and quiet before the rest of the family arrive downstairs and I have to start being the hostess with the mostest. Or not.
Nothing prepared but not really too much to do - veg to peel/prepare mainly.
OH decided not to buy me a present because he said we'd agreed not to buy for each other. For the record, we just agreed not to get anything big/expensive. I have got him some personalised cufflinks and a couple of the Ladybird adult spoof books. May be interesting to see his reaction!
We have my mum and brother with us for Christmas. They don't drive and live about 30 minutes away; we always offer to go and pick them up but they always decline, saying they don't want to put us out.
Neither of them has a mobile phone (we have given them an old one of ours but they won't use it). We agreed which train they would get so we could meet it at this end.
8.45 yesterday the phone rings. "We think the boiler is leaking as water is coming through so we are going to call out an expensive emergency plumber on Christmas Eve". I offered OH's services, as he is quite keen on DIY. No, they would get a plumber in.
Rang back to say plumber would be there between 12 and 3 so they might have to get a later train.
Rang at 2.15 to say plumber had been, checked and no leaks, possibly problem with the roof. They were about to leave for the bus to the station so would be on one train later than originally planned (30 minutes).
Rang at 2.45 from a payphone to say they had got to the station in time for the earlier train but hadn't got it as they had told us they would be on the later train. Unfortunately said later train had been cancelled so they got the following one (an hour later than originally planned).

If they had let OH go round, he could have checked the plumbing and brought them back, for a lot less hassle... or even, if they had used the mobile, they could have got the earlier train and rung us en route...
    Sigh.

    Let the festivities commence!

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Body is moving but only just.....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

You sound like Queen Elizabeth the first who had three baths a year "whether she needed one or not".

    Happy Christmas everybody.

BBC Breakfast are going through famous people who died this year! You'd think that was more suitable for New Years Eve than Christmas Day?
Appalling .... that's really grim and poor taste.

The BBC really is a second class service when it comes to their extended 'news' programmes, such as Breakfast ... they've nothing to fill the time with, so make !!!!!! choices.

Merry Xmas to all NPs. :)

I spoke to sis yesterday who said to look out for her on the Aled Jones Christmas Carol service.

I don't think seeing part of one's head counts as a telly fame moment ;)

Frozen....sodden and best/clean jeans ruined/muddy by a dog that kept jumping up them :( So, now wearing "not the jeans I intended to wear at all" .... and frozen through.

I'll never get a dog. Ever. Never. It won't happen.

"Walk the dogs on the beach" first thing appeared a harmless enough outing for starters.... lessons learnt.

Making notes this Xmas for next .... that's definitely crossed off the list as a good idea.

You do get star points for agreeing to go and stay in a house where there is a resident dog. Not sure I would.

Merry Christmas to all the NP and lurkers. Hope you all have a lovely, restful day filled with joy and laughter. To those going out, have a safe journey. To those like us who have lost a loved one this year, I hope that thinking about them brings a smile to your face as well as the possible tears.

And to the international contingent... Joyeux Noel, Feliz Navidad and Frohliche Weinachten (sorry for any misspelling); and for those down under, g'day and have a bl**dy good one...

And to CK (if this isn't right, I'm blaming google):

    Happy Christmas NP.

We have no phone or broadband and apparently can't even report it till Sunday - thank you sky.

Plus I am sat in the car outside churh, neither DW or I remembered to switch the oven on as we went out the door so I am nipping back to do so...except we are parked in. I think we will be having Christmas dinner this evening not lunch time. Still, smiling on through the migraine.
    I think....
