It must be lovely, knowing you don't really have to plan round the weather too much ... as in, it won't be freezing, soaking wet, blowing a gale, all of those.... nice, warm weather. I hate the weather we get in the UK. All the countries we invaded over the years, how come we handed back the ones with better weather??

I find it amazing that England handed back Burgandy and Bordeaux and kept Jersey.

I have heard the same - would it be ok for DS who is 6? Should I get DKs to watch the original trilogy first?
Erm -some horrible monsters- how is he with Dr Who?

And yes, for the original trilogy

It sounds like the old puzzle back in the 70s about how come dictatorships all had better fruit than us.

I'm assuming brown crabs (not spider). Are they still fresh, or have they actually been cooked and you've not looked?

If they're raw then you just boil them... we had one once that was reviving and trying to crawl out of the pot - and mum/dad were pushing it back in with the wooden tongs from the twin tub washing machine ....

LOVE crab claw meat .... but there's no way I'd EVER be poking around pulling out innards/dead man's fingers etc. EWWWWW.

I think, if I were ever in a position where I HAD to provide a starter to a meal, I'd go for some toast and good crab pate.

So they were cooked so we just steamed them to heat them up and youtubed how to open them. With no crackers (DS nut allergy) I read that you could put the claws between two chopping boards and hit the top one with a hammer. This did work until the hammer smashed the top board :(. There is very little meat on crabs it turns out and inside the body bit is all disgusting yuckiness of the horror movie variety but no sign of any flesh....
    I think....

Yes, the meat in the claws is best... the rest is mostly "brown meat" ... or disgusting yuckiness as you call it. The brown meat is a stronger taste than the white, better suited to using crabs for flavour/dishes .... but, for me, I am just interested in the claw meat.

What's in the rest of the crab is just ....ewwww.

I used to hate all seafood (apart from fish'n'chips). One summer a bunch of us stayed in a bog standard French hotel on the Med where we were all fed the set menu based on seafood.

Total conversion. Some of the clientele were retirees living out their retirement there. Don't blame them.

I survived Christmas eve and the running around with the parents....just!

Been non stop today, started early as I needed to pick the meat up from the butchers (he's done a cracking job and for a similar price to the supermarket, all Suffolk meat too) and ended late with a gig.

Unfortunately, the all go means my body doesn't want to move now and I have had to take my super duper hard core pain killers in the hope that it will want to move tomorrow as I have a dinner to cook.

James has found a cheat way to wrap presents, nick my tin foil and wrap them in that....job done within minutes and without sellotape, unfortunately, I am now minus tin foil.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Carols from Kings, Cambridge on BBC2, must be christmas. Beautiful place, wonderful voices. I'm an atheist but love this programme. It's when christmas starts for me.
    Happy Christmas to you!

Our Christmas starts at 3pm on Christmas Eve with the sound of " once in Royal David's city" 9 lessons and carols from Kings on R4.

An emotional lump in the throat and tears well up.

very relaxed day here, all done Turkey prepped, veg peeled.

DD's bf invited us for supper. All very grown up stuff. The bf has also made a real xmas pudding for us for tomorrow:)

    Lovely evening with them both.

Happy Christmas NP (present and resting) and thanks for seeing me through a year of change and recovery. Enjoy whatever you celebrate in the company of those you love or in the knowledge that you are all under the same big sky for those who cannot be together with loved ones.

Fondest regards for your wisdom and friendship

I am up at 5 in the morning for some reason, so let me be the first to wish you all HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Edit: Everyone but Gen, as he has already been wished that many times. :)

BBC Breakfast are going through famous people who died this year! You'd think that was more suitable for New Years Eve than Christmas Day?
