Oh, something to give. Is that it?

My 'speshulness' makes gifts difficult to understand. I saw it being explained to Sheldon in the Big Bang Theory once...

I really struggle ... not against giving things, but I don't do "choosing" of anything, even for myself, very well at all.

They're not the "charity on their behalf" sort of people. Maybe I should just go and buy them their own, real, donkey.... bound to be some up in the Forest for sale :)

    Now I understand!

The point about gifts really is that you exchange something. It doesn't really matter what the something is except that it should show some consideration of the recipient.

We were waiting on an iPhone sized package this morning.

The postman knocked and handed me over something which seemed the right size.

It was addressed to me. No name on an attached card though, and inside the box was a dinky toy coupe carrying a xmas tree on the roof!

Thoughtful gifts need not be expensive.

    Right.... Christmas Eve.

    Time to start shopping. :)

I checked that the local stores close at 6 this evening. We are planning to pop in at 5 and harvest the yellow sticker goods.

I just fell over in the woods and hurt my shoulder, so this trip will mean DW driving, and I'm a dreadful passenger.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

You can't go wrong with flowers.

Unless you steal them from the local cemetery and forget to remove the tag saying RIP.

Unless you are giving them to Rip Van Winkle.

Then they become 'custom and thoughtful'.

    Do you collect dinky toys?

No, but the model the toy car is based on is very much like a car I used to own. It was always an impractical car, and I think it was the butt of a few jokes about practicality. The idea of it being used to carry a xmas tree is amusing (to me).

[Or I could have all this completely wrong!]

It would have been my Dad's 75th birthday today. I don't do very well on 23rd December.

    Hugs for yesterday Gen.

Stopped en route for an all day breakfast at The Puffin Cafe (near Penmaenmawr). Thoroughly recommend! Local bacon and sausages from Glasfryn, really delicious bacon so we bought some in the shop for brekkers tomorrow.

Ah, happy days. My mother's parents lived in Pen; lovely area (even though the beach was shingle rather than sand!)

DS is very impressed with himself - he did most of his present-buying over the internet, managed to get the rest at Bluewater, and wrapped everything last night.

I'm even more impressed that he got out of the car park before Christmas! I saw the news reports about it taking some people up to 6 hours to get out!!!

My turn to say to all NPs that I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas period, however you are spending it.

Mum and I will be together, then my brother and family will be with us overnight 29-30th for a belated Christmas. It will be very odd without Dad but we will do our best to enjoy the time nevertheless.
