I thought your mrs was a pop star or something? Has she just covered danger zone? In any case the pub is free to serve whoever it wants to - if it was me I just wouldn't go back, ever.

She qualified about 18 months ago, worked for BA just over a month (and another airline before for 15 months)

She's held a PPL (as have I) for several years before, too :)

She'd literally just come from work.

Oh, and doesn't believe in working after alcohol, that's for the military :)

It still seems an odd reason for a pub to refuse to serve her. Is the landlord aviophobic?

Thanks for reminding me! I've made a donation on behalf of all the NP's on MSE wishing her a Happy Christmas.

    DQ please :)

My sis did the University Air Squadron pilot training gig many will be familiar with.

After one of her flights her instructor asked her what she thought she had done wrong.

"Was I a bit low?" she replied.

"Low?! It is the only time I have seen a golf ball go over the wing!" was his reply.

It still tickles me to imagine some Scottish golfers diving for cover, thinking they are being subjected to an aerial attack!

"Grab the trolley Charlie!! She's coming in for another pass!!"

I'm small, weak and useless. One "idiot's solution" might've been to get a hacksaw and just cut 1/4" off the bottom of the pipe - but I then had visions of the whole lot immediately sliding down 1/4" and detaching from the gutter sleeve, then waving about in the air.... so I didn't go down that route :)

The other pipe on the house has the bottom 3" missing.... so, it looks like some "idiot" in the past tried this - and got away with it ...but who knows what pain they went through when they dreamed it up.

I am guessing, but is it possible that both pipes were originally installed with a three inch gap? The one you have trouble with has dropped, because of the weight of water and crud in it.

It might be unwise to leave this any longer, as you can get water damaging the house, and it will cost the same to fix the pipe whether you get a man in now or later.

You and half the male population of the country have the same idea.

The other half will start tomorrow.

    question of the year!

Saw a middle-aged man in the local pharmacy yesterday who'd come in to collect his meds and left with two soft toys and a toiletries gift set of a brand I'd never heard of :D

Oh dear Gen! I hope you'll be pleased with your presents at any rate.

PN £2.99 does seem rather a lot for a cellophane bag of nuts! I did see a big sack of loose walnuts the other day, but that was in a greengrocer's and I didn't notice the price as I wasn't looking to buy any.

Maggie Three cheers for Gwilym! :T Have a lovely Christmas at "the place I'm not going to attempt to spell"!

DS is very impressed with himself - he did most of his present-buying over the internet, managed to get the rest at Bluewater, and wrapped everything last night.

He's always done most of the wrapping on Christmas Day up to now! He must be a grown-up at last.
