Then I went to waitrose on the way back, as it's en route - plenty of space in the carpark, plenty of food and room to manoeuvre in the store.
Best of all, a checkout with nobody in front of me!
I did the bigger shop on Monday at Tesco and some at M&S, and again wasn't busy. I think there are more days to spread out the shopping, or maybe more online shopping.
Apparently both Waitrose and M&S were heaving at 7am today, though - so I feel very smug.0 -
I drove past a Waitrose today at just after 9am and there was a queue round the block just to get in the car park. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I am making my 'Absurdly Boozy Trifle' tomorrow.
One bowl will get you tipsy, seconds will get you drunk, thirds.... well.... lets just say I only tried a third bowl once.
Every ingredient (except the sprinkles) contains booze.
It's a thing of beauty....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I was at work this morning (and even paid a few people, too!)

Today, I walked:
Along an ancient sunken lane
Through a country estate with a park designed by Humphry Repton 200 years ago
Through mature deciduous and fir forests
Through heathland with gorse and heather
Through salt marshes
On the sea shore, next to the surf
I had lunch on the beach
I also watched an enormous steam locomotive in full steam hauling a train
The weather was a bit brisk, so I wore a jumper on top of my T shirt, and the sun was shining in a cloudless sky. :cool:No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Today I walked just under a mile to the nearest costa. A car drove past as I set off heading in the same direction and I reached costa first.
Thanks to spirit for advice, presents for DS2-GF family have been bought. Following the tragic death of the Human Cannonball at the Southport Show, a spokesman said, “We’ll struggle to get another man of the same calibre.”No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Arrived at caravan to find central heating boiler not working!
Our lovely plumber talked OH through some possible fixes, when they didn't work he came out within half an hour and fixed it! :j What a star he is! Charge £55, which I think was incredibly reasonable, especially at this time of year. So three cheers for Gwilym! Our Hero!
We could have managed without the central heating (there's a gas fire), but no hot water would have been rather a nuisance!
Stopped en route for an all day breakfast at The Puffin Cafe (near Penmaenmawr). Thoroughly recommend! Local bacon and sausages from Glasfryn, really delicious bacon so we bought some in the shop for brekkers tomorrow.
Tomorrow I'm hoping for a bit of dry at some stage so I can string the lights round the deck. And also cut some evergreen to put my little (20) string of coloured lights over.
OH is absolutely exhausted, and has laid down along the living room seating and gone to sleep. So I've got the TV and a G&T for company, might have to go and do some unpacking in a bit, or might leave most of it till morning. Oh the remote on the TV hs stopped working too. Have tried changing the batteries, but still no luck. I'd forgotten what a pain it is to have to stand up and walk over to the TV to change channels or alter the volume! :rotfl:0 -
Pastures, am at my dad's. He says from what I've described second hand, it does not sound difficult. He said that because you had trees overhanging, then it could be the gutter rather than the downpipe. He says you can normally tap the downpipe and it will sound muffled like a full this if it is blocked, but ring more if full. That should help you tell where the problem is.
If it is in the downpipe, it will need rodding, if its up top, the leaves need pulling out.
I don't know if this helps as just typing what he told me.
He says there is a wire balloon in the top and trees play havoc with them, however it should be an easy fix. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
