I checked that the local stores close at 6 this evening. We are planning to pop in at 5 and harvest the yellow sticker goods.

I just fell over in the woods and hurt my shoulder, so this trip will mean DW driving, and I'm a dreadful passenger.

I am wondering what the best time for a YS tour is - too early and prices are not cut, too late and everything has been nabbed....

Have to admit I find over-excited kids hard work - at what age will they start to realise that by this time tomorrow even if they have had everything they want they will still be feeling that 'it is all over' anti-climax feeling. At what age does one learn what life is really like?

The eldest will educate the next one.

DS2 (he who was bribed to go by train) was looking for a train around 11, luckily the 10 o'clock was cheaper. 10 o'clock train arrived on time. 11 o'clock train broke down and is currently running 2 hours late. the grief I would have got!

When your kids compare notes and their friends recount stories of driving round looking at Xmas lights in decorated houses, yours will describe the joy on daddy's face as he spotted a yellow sticker!

Hopefully the fact that daddy can afford to pay for music lessons, a house big enough for them to have their own rooms and not have to panic/beg from relatives if the car breaks down or washing machine breaks will go some way to making up for missing out on looking at other peoples' leccy bills.

Whilst out, I was "lost" where lost means "I knew I was within 2 miles of a shop I remembered seeing a year ago and thought was round here ... but I've actually no idea where I am or how to get to it yet..." and I espied an Aldi. So I went in. I do like Aldi ...but rarely get to one (one coming here soon!).

I came away with two cheese/tomato foccachia breads, drinkypoos for taking to Xmas Day and some red pepper hummus. Now - this hummus ... I was so pleased I'd bought it - I've not had any for about 8 years as it's so calorie laden, but I thought I'd treat myself .... until I remembered half way home that I'd picked up some tortillas yesterday, then put them back on the shelf as I thought "You can't eat everything you see/like and that the shop sells"

I figure the hummus will be equally good with the Pringles Tortilla things I bought though. So, having just remembered I did get those, I'm not sad at not having another bag of regular tortillas.

... after all, you can't buy, own, eat everything they sell can you.

You are quite adventurous with the things you eat. Much of this is stuff you must have experienced for the first time as an adult?

I'd forgotton that DS1 eats. Constantly. The fridge is well stocked, I fear it will be empty by tomorrow.

Snap Silvercar...been really shocked this year with the older ones at home, me and youngest really don't need all that much in the cupboards but stuff that was lasting us weeks has lasted just a couple of days!

Josh is not so bad but James eats loads.

Can I just say, I hate wrapping presents or having to take parents around town to pick up last minute bits. ..it's manic out there, I think everyone forgets how to drive or cross a road safely!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Hugs for yesterday Gen.

Ah, happy days. My mother's parents lived in Pen; lovely area (even though the beach was shingle rather than sand!)

I'm even more impressed that he got out of the car park before Christmas! I saw the news reports about it taking some people up to 6 hours to get out!!!

Dreadful, eh? That was on Monday though - he was planning to go there that evening on the way back from work in Essex, but when he saw the queues on the A2 from the flyover he changed his mind. Tuesday wasn't so bad, thankfully!

    Yes .... and yes.

Hummus - I must've had some via my sibling's tastes - probably had a pot thrust at me, with a bag of tortillas, one previous Xmas. I know there are two things, that look similar, and one's got fishy stuff (eugh) and the other one's just chick peas (yay/safe).... I think (99% sure, but will now panic google) that hummus is the chick peas - and the fishy stuff is something else.

Foccachia - it's just bread with a bit of cheese/tomato on top... so that's something you can see in the bread aisles and think "that looks normal/doable". I probably had my first of those about 10 years ago.

My "Xmas food/treats box" probably reads like something from 1980. :) It's also fairly restrained as it'd be easy to get carried away. I've got (off the top of my head) Walkers crisps, 1 tube of Pringles/tortilla flavour, a pot of dip, 2 foccachia breads, monkey nuts, salted peanuts, a pot of jalapeno chicken sandwich filler, a box of mixed biscuits, a 100g bar of cranberry chocolate, a 250g bag of chocolate misshapes.

I've NOT got: quiche/s, cocktail sausages, sausage rolls, tempting bites, vol au vent cases and dreams of filling them, satsumas, walnuts, grapes, Xmas pudding/brandy sauce, mince pies, cake, Matchmakers, orange/lemon slices, Terry's Chocolate orange, Cadbury fingers. All things which would be festive and typically would find their way into many a trolley, but you can't have it all, you can't eat everything.... even if you really tried.

I really love vol au vents. :)

Taramasalata is the fishy one. It's pink and should be left on the side of the plate. That's considered politer than saying "Phewww! What foul stuff."
