We keep the cutlery in different drawers, have different sinks, different table cloths, even different dishwashers. Likewise, pans are kept in different places and (sometimes!) marked up with different coloured nail varnish. It's a whole system, rather than a memory exercise!
What do poor (third world poor not UK poor) Jewish people do? Maintaining 3 sets of pots, pans, plates, cutlery etc would be a real push for the 'dollar a day' person.0 -

If you don't eat meat, you only need one set. And, if you do eat meat, you don't need different sinks, for example, just different washing up bowls. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
DQWD pic.
Proud enough to burst this morning.
It's inspiration day at school for DD, so fancy dress. They are examining what it is to be British in modern times.
The list of idea we were given wasn't particularly inspirational. Union Jacks, Royal Family, Ladies' Day at Ascot (what an inspiration wearing ridiculous heels and getting blotto is!).
Sports strips are banned which I think is a great idea - somehow they always seem to fit into any fancy dress category and don't involve imagination.
I didn't come up with much myself, but she decided what she wanted to be.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

On left handedness, OH eats left handidly, but if you lay his table setting that way he gets confused as he is so used to picking up his cutlery and swapping them over. DS1 is profoundly left handed, he can't manage a right handed scissors and struggles with a cheque book even. Luckily writing cheques these days is rare.
Both boys are very accepting of the meat milk rules at home and know where everything is and should be. As they have grown up with it, it's not been an issue in the house. They are also accepting of the rule that when we take them out for dinner we expect them not to eat non kosher meat and no shellfish. That rule obviously doesn't extend to the GF which makes me think the rule will need to renegotiated at some point.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Do you think that extremely poor Jewish people simply ignore this? The poorest people in the world are living in a poverty that is almost unimaginable for most of us but I doubt it extends to buying an extra washing up bowl or cutlery.
I am completely out of my depth I admit, I'm neither Jewish nor religious.0 -
Our local secondary school has the skirt dozen daughter is wearing. A shorter version, meant to be knee length and designed to be difficult to roll up at the waist.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. If they don't have the means to buy a second set, someone will have given it as a wedding present or they would have inherited a cast off of someone else's. There are also charities that exist purely to provide the means of being religious to those that can't afford it. I'm not saying it's a charity you or I would consider valuable in the scheme of things, but they exist and are funded. You find many poor religious Jews but what they lack in money they make up for in people. Aside from the actual dishes and crockery, there is little else that is essential- this 2 sinks, 2 ovens, 2 dishwashers etc is there to make life easier if you have the means and room to do so, it is far from essential.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. TBH the job is probably better suited to my skills and temperament.
Increasingly my job is going to be looking up unusual information about companies and economic systems and looking for insights in that information. Remind you of a particular poster round these parts?
For example, today I was looking at the fraud that was attempted on Mrs Hastings' house and the implications for FinTech and banks (bad for FinTech and good for banks IMHO).
Woah - you are getting paid to do what I would happily sit and do all day for the fun of it - jammy !!!!!!I think....0 -
