Why is "Theres a guy works down the chip shop" running through my head?
Kirsty McColl RIP
When our daughter was small she was strapped into her car seat and was singing and swaying in time to the tune. Our delight turned to appalled as we realised she was singing "you s*umbag you m*ggot, you cheap lousy f*ggot" aargh0 -

As we've one in the family, with all the traits heaped upon him, I grew up associating ginger with [insert totally non-PC term here].
Aged 18-22 my best friend was a ginger ... she called herself a redhead. I think redhead sounds more like auburn.
I was talking too this girl who had ginger hair ..and with out thinking i said your hair colour is like a autumn leaf. And she was really chuffed... i was shocked as how happy she become.“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

I have suddenly noticed the funny fans under the poster name have turned into circles with numbers in - still no way to turn them off though afaik?I think....0

I'd never heard of this. Bar the niece being strawberry blonde, some odd comments on this forum, one friend saying her daughter had a ginger BF who was "fine other than that", then you.
Eldest nephew was a ginger baby. He had the bluest white skin and bright blue eyes. Grew up to have sandy auburn hair and was considered handsome. Sadly no longer with us.
my Irish family have one or two little boys in it that have bright ginger hair, pale skin and more freckles than you can imagine. They are attractive looking kids, would make a good poster for Tourism Eireann.0 -
This is more than slightly weird to me. Redheads were everywhere where I grew up. You certainly didn't dare call them names. :eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

No doubt they have worse to say based on skin colour, religion, sexual orientation and nationality....
I have no problem with anyone based on any of the above, with the exception that I'm not lied to.RE: Privacy and Conspiracy Theories concerning NP
It is common sense to keep your identity concealed on-line. If CK's name is really CK, then more fool you.
Spirit, I'm not going to say I disagree with you (actually, I agree with you fully on the above point), but the fact of the matter is, that in being public in my views with what's happening, I feel that I'm showing I have nothing to hide.
I've actually done more proper work in the last few months than in the last 5 years, and another individual is in the same position, and I have nothing to lose in being as public as possible with this. Other organisations (again, speaking generally) have a lot of further issues potentially, however there's a clear difference between protecting your reputation and bribing someone. This is more than slightly weird to me. There were general jokes down here, however interestingly little to anyones face.
I grew up in Leeds (from age of about 9) then Essex (from age of about 12), and this was (as far as I'm aware) the case in both areas.
In Essex (a rural part, rather than urban), I was one of the few foreign kids, too.💙💛 💔0 -

Where I'm from, the word ginger uttered in your own voice would be heard only once, accompanied swiftly by fierce facial pain where somebody with red hair would have corrected your once-only social faux-pas.
My original business partner was a straight talking Scot, so I understand that fully💙💛 💔0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »From the coat of arms that the Queen agreed belonged to the family of Joseph in 1856 ....I've managed to work out who the "top bloke" is, at the head of the tree. He's got a brass in the Chapel at Westminster Abbey. He was at Bosworth.
So now I've got:
1] top bloke, originally got the arms
2] Joseph/rich bloke (1771-1856) + father of Joseph (1728-1789), clearly owning the arms in 1856
3] my rabble.
So that's a lot more dots to join up.
I need to work out how to get from [1], 1505, to [2], 1728.
And I hope when I get to about 1700 I'll start to have a clue where [3] fits in.
In addition to Burkes, you could try Cockaynes. Again it's one of those things that you may be able to read an out of copyright version of. Also, if they were armigerous (had a coat of arms), then they will probably be in the Book of Visitations for the relevant county, some of which are available on line.
It's also worth doing a Google books search for the name. I find that with family history you get really interesting results doing that.
Finally, have you tried a2a and geographically local, local history sites? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
