I have the same issue ivy. It is very frustrating. Especially when I don't know something important, e.g. that a relative was ill, and then I don't get in touch because I don't know, but am seen as heartless.. so there's two sides to that coin... you miss out on the joy and the pain.

Exactly :( Wouldn't you think they'd say "Ooh, I'd better give viva a quick ring/send viva an email as she's not on Facebook, or she won't know about it!" ?

ETA silvercar Slightly different problem, but there's a lovely lady on another thread who has to decide what to give her son's soon-to-be-in-laws for Christmas.

    They are millionaires. She's not!

It is only in the last couple of years that I've mention of this as if the stigma has now gone. I didn't know it existed. That is probably why MIL insists that niece's hair is strawberry blonde not ginger.

I really like red-heads, and I've no idea why there's anything attached to it at all. I'd never heard discussion about it before I came on this forum, but there's been a fair amount of banter here.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Even in the 60s we were kicking the ginger kid. Nobody liked them :)
As we've one in the family, with all the traits heaped upon him, I grew up associating ginger with [insert totally non-PC term here].

Aged 18-22 my best friend was a ginger ... she called herself a redhead. I think redhead sounds more like auburn.

I'd never heard of this. Bar the niece being strawberry blonde, some odd comments on this forum, one friend saying her daughter had a ginger BF who was "fine other than that", then you.

No doubt they have worse to say based on skin colour, religion, sexual orientation and nationality....

I'm due to gove blood for the first time, this afternoon.

I'm not sure I can do it. I'm so bad with needles and I've just read that they do a finger !!!!! test which is scaring me more than the big thing. I can't stand the shock.

I feel sick already and I'm a bit worried as I haven't felt great over the last few days. Bit lightheaded without losing a pint of blood :(

I have not been able to give for many years, however have had blood and blood products for which i am very grateful and my lovely 7 year old great nephew is in remission from leukemia. All thanks to people who gave blood, and put themselves through teir phobias and misgivings.

    thanks- a-lot.xxx

At what point do you start buying Xmas presents for kids boyfriends/ girlfriends?

The first christmas they are around and you know its important to your offspring. The scale of the gift may be small but it should be tailored to their taste.

It is dd' bfs birthday today we bought him trousers from fat face, we have bought him a shirt from there for christmas. I have also provided most of his christmas stocking fillers.

They have been together a year next week, and following NP advice we have bought them dualit kettle and toaster.

Ooh, my thank you button is working again!

I may have had to be turned a bit upside down in the special chair after the mince pie, as I asked if feeling light headed was normal, but it meant I got another go at the snack table and a Orange Club biscuit.

It's not so bad. if you can do it, do it. I was impressed by how many people there were :)

RE: Privacy and Conspiracy Theories concerning NP

It is common sense to keep your identity concealed on-line. If CK's name is really CK, then more fool you.

If someone were to trawl All my posts they may be able to makea connection to the real me, but would probably have died of boredom first. Those who I have met in RL and have corresponded with by pm and email have a fuller picture of my identity and life, but that is a normal development of friendship. For those NP whom I know...your secrets are safe with me... as my memory is useless.Otherwise I would sing like a canary.

I think it was a guy on a grassy knoll or in a book repository what did it. Goes by the name of Julian Assange.
