True. there's many a lurker judging by the "number of views". But it's one of the three subforums not visible to searchbots and forum non-members.

It's not rocket science to get here from the real world. MSE posts come up regularly for me on google when I'm looking for answers to something.

If someone uses their real name here and they are Googled, one would potentially find a searchable MSE post which will then take you to a user's profile and potentially onto posts in here.

The point is, if you don't mind being personally identifiable on internet forums etc, then make sure you don't post things that you don't want to be public knowledge at some point.

Or have an anonymous username and keep personal details out, if you don't want to be known.

Presuming this is all about CK's conspiracy issues that go completely over my head and I have no interest in particularly understanding, let alone posting about over the internet.

I'm a bit miffed that there is suggestion that people in here might not be discreet or even malicious that we feel obliged to defend ourselves. Sorry CK, but your internet security is your business and I'd be looking on the other side of the fence for someone who was specifically interested in what you were talking about, not a NP.

Have to say those were my thoughts too.
I didn't see the post and if I did, probably wouldn't have read it - no interest. I'm not on Facebook either, but even if I had been wouldn't have shared something from here. Doesn't matter what it is.
Sorry if that makes me not a NP.

I am interested in Eurovision, but have no interest in Facebook and don't even have an account. I prefer to be anonymous on the net, so use different pseudonyms everywhere. I'm not drawn to any social media site that uses real names. Learnt that early doors when my exes started looking me up on friends reunited. Won't be doing that again.

Particularly working with the public, I like to be as obscure and hard to find as possible. I've also had a very long week so have no idea what was posted as it was gone before it was logged on.

Having an unusual name AND saying things that you can't stand by (for legal, ethical or whatever reason) is a bit or a recipe for disaster imo. It's a bit like spilling your secrets to a friend on a bus and not realising the person behind who you didn't notice was there now also knows all your secrets.

I'm not accusing NP of doing anything, as it seems very unlikely that it was someone that regularly posts here.

The post was aimed at whoever made the comment, who was more probably a lurker here than an actual poster. Nonetheless, it was someone that has done enough research to find out where I've been leaving things online the last few days, although how they did it, I don't know.

The specific info was something I'd posted here and spoken to one person privately about.

Re Virgin media, I am with them and have not had any problem with Facebook.....apart from the usual obnoxious/mundane/downright silly posts you can find there that is!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Then the nice people thread is for nice people and nice comments, CK, so don't bring dirty washing or passive aggressive posts in. Check the first post. It's just not cricket. :o

Facebook.......urghh. No desire to join it whatsoever.

Though that does mean that some members of the family don't keep in touch because I think they reason that if I wanted to be in touch with them I'd be on Facebook :(

I have the same issue ivy. It is very frustrating. Especially when I don't know something important, e.g. that a relative was ill, and then I don't get in touch because I don't know, but am seen as heartless.. so there's two sides to that coin... you miss out on the joy and the pain.

People have possibly been following you since day 1.

If they are commenting on your Facebook posts then they are your Facebook friends and their name should be visible to you. So you need to control your Facebook friends list a bit tighter and set your Facebook settings so that the only people that see your posts are the people you want to see them.
The only other way someone can comment on a Facebook post is if you are posting in a Facebook group - that would be very risky if you are identifiable and posting secret stuff. But again people can't post without their name showing up.

    Sighs!
