    Oh, just a quick one.

Whoever found a comment on Facebook earlier of mine and commented on it with very specific details I'd left here, I now don't feel safe posting those details on the NPT (even if the comment did happen after I'd posted).

The richest person in OH's family is childless (which probably explains why they are the richest). However they do have 4 cats lined up to inherit all their worldly goods. Local cats homes will be queuing up to adopt the orphaned !!!!! cats, I just hope they realise that said cats are used to their own bedrooms and en-suites.

I'm available for adoption and am quite willing to purr for the right money.

    What a !!!!!! week.

Took some books to a charity shop only to be told, nobody buys them any more, they just use e-readers now. Baffled, as I hardy seem to know anybody who uses e-readers.

Luckily the shop next door took them off my hands without making me feel like I was Fred Flintsone.

I've stopped donating books (and clothes) to the major charity shops now after first watching someone dropping off a load of stuff and as soon as he had gone, the whole lot being chucked in the bin (we did manage to salvage one item before it went in which was handy for James at uni). Their reasoning was that no-one bought the stuff either.

Secondly, a friend volunteers for a charity shop and he informed me of the same thing re books, especially non fiction. No matter the condition, all non fiction goes straight in the bin to be pulped, clothes, unless in perfect condition and a brand name, goes for ragging.

Second hand books... there is a difference between what sells in a charity shop and what is worth money.

If you are trying to find out whether books are worth disposing of, go to a website like Abe Books and type in the ISBN number. A huge number of titles are worth a few pennies secondhand. However they may also be popular, so in good condition bookshops can sell them.

Ironically non-fiction tends to be worth more, but because it has a different level of appeal, isn't as wanted by most charity shops (unless they specialise like the Oxfam bookshops).

If books are nearly new and popular as well as in good condition, then you may find libraries would like them.

Books from before somewhere in the early 1970s won't have an ISBN, so you'll need to look up by title.

I've also suggested pricing things differently like you but prices are set by head office and the manager has no discretion on them.

I think this depends on the store. A lot of the ones locally set prices according to national levels, but we've got a couple (my aunt worked for one) where more local pricing is agreed. They tried applying the different pricing, but the store's takings dropped. It was in a deprived area and nobody could afford to shop there anymore. Maybe that's like the little one for the homeless that you mentioned earlier.

Won't their name show up on FB if they have commented? I can prove my innocence - facebook site won't load for virgin media customers at the moment.

Wow PN, I found that fascinating, to actually find the very house is satisfying, but then to see the name as well - brilliant.

It's not so bad really. It's not something you would cover the entire room in I suspect.

    You can spend £30 - £50 a sq m on tiles.

Just two thirds of one wall; the back bit I of the room is tacked on IYKWIM, so there's a natural division.

Not me CK, FB is a bit of a mystery to me.

Not me either CK, I am on Facebook but have no idea who you are on there, I am hopeless at names (numbers and dates are a different matter), even if your name popped up on my feed, I still wouldn't associate it with your 'addy' over here, causes some merriment during the season as I know most the team members by their forum names and they will contact me on FB in their real names and I don't have a scoobie who the blooming hell they are and have to ask.

Then I forget in time for the next time......
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I've started logging names now....still forget though and have to go through the list to remind myself (if I remember to use the list that is!)

Nor me. I haven't looked at Fb for months.

This forum is viewable by people who don't ever post here.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

True. there's many a lurker judging by the "number of views". But it's one of the three subforums not visible to searchbots and forum non-members.
