    Thinking of you Yorkie.

    Echoed here Yorkie.

Like DG, I found work were understanding on the surface, but it felt shallow.

I had one day off for the funeral, and the next day I am back running the final day of a big compliance sign off exercise (well, my body was back at least).

I hope it all goes smoothly Yorkie.

When someone with a grudge left a company I worked for in the early eighties, they stapled the floppy disks together corner to corner and made a daisy chain across the ceiling.

Slightly off the subject but I once quit a job by genuflecting on the floor of the shop to my boss (a consultant) then standing up and quitting.

Crickey he was incompetent. The company ceased trading about 3 months after he got his hands on it. He wanted an electrical shop on Tottenham Court Road not to discount.

Cooking goat tagine in the slow cooker for Wednesday night dinner. DD likes goat but is a bit iffy about tagine. DD's bf and my s-i-l will be here. Not sure if I should have a second main course on standby for s-i-l. Plum crumble from the freezer will do for pud.

A bit of a favourite simple supper yesterday evening. Roast chicken stuffed with a lemon, new potatoes and broccoli. I have made stock from the carcase and am considering leek and potato or celery soup for a starter tomorrow. Alternative will be either baked camembert or pate on toast.

Tonight we are having salmon fillets, DD will have pork steak. I am considering a caper sauce or salsa verde. i have cavello nero to go with it thanks to Aldi and carrots. Undecided on carbs. Possibly a rosti or boulangere potatoes.

My Diabetes is coming under control again following a switch to insulin. OH's cholesterol level is under review. I have gained half a stone after recent indulgence , so trying to offer low fat alternatives and reduce carbs. Cholesterol levels not high ( mine are low) but an imbalance of hdl/ldl. familial for both of us.

Yorkie I am very sorry to read of the loss of your dad, I hope it is some comfort that he did not linger nor carry on with a legacy of catastrophic disability.

My experience is that time is a great healer, and that although the immediate sense is one of shock, you are busy making arrangements. It may be it is in the next few months when you have time to think and may worry about your mum that you feel the loss and are weary, so if work is compassionate that is great but give yourself time.

I was pondering posting a suggestion for a whip round to buy me an annual subscription ..... :)

    I thought you'd appreciate me being quiet/er.

Try crowdfunding. Ifyou don't make the full sum you may get enough for a return ticket to inner herts.

    ...

My leaving do was also the Xmas works party on one occasion.

I sat at the opposite end of a long table to the boss who I didn't particularly care for.

Luckily, I had a motorised water pistol under the table. It was remarkably accurate at firing water jets into his crotch.

He was too drunk to work out where this moisture was coming from. :rotfl:

At the moment it isn't real - it's as if he's just away on a school trip or similar - so the emotion hasn't really sunk in yet. Doubtless that will come at some point.

Very sorry to hear your news Yorkie. Glad your work are being helpful though. Please let us know when the funeral is, so that I can send thoughts and The Vibes. Cyber hugs from Liverpool.

    cavello nero

Mmm, cavalo nero... got some growing at the lottie, it's doing really well still, we're having it every day at present! Planted some in big pots on the caravan deck too, so if we go there for Xmas we'll hopefully have some for our dinner. Of course the pigeons may have had them by now!
