    Welcome pack to returning holidaymakers.

Having had to park and start my car on a steep hill today (and as a non-garage-owner) I've often wondered how steep a sloping ramp you'd have to put in a garage to fit as longer car into it.

Pythagoras will answer your question in theory, but it's not terribly practical.

As an example, say the garage is 6 metres long and your ramp tilts the car up so the front is a metre from the ground, it will only allow a car that is 8 cms longer.

It's easier to add a front extension to the garage.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I have decided I want a Tesla X - now just need to find someone to lend me 85k :( ... plus another couple of k to extend the garage by a few feet.

I'd trade any fancy Tesla or BMW or 4x4 Audi Qtip Chelsea tractor for a basic car which drives itself - so I can have a kip in the back on the daily/weekly commute. :)

Instead the auto makers tease us with trinkets like lane guidance.

May also be a problem opening the doors...

You probably all know this, but still ....

    What item :-

    - costs 22p each to import (made in China)
    - sells for a retail £4.20 each
    - makes an easy £2+ profit per item
    - sold thousands recently
    - makes a confused statement

    ?
    :)

    Confession time.

I've missed everything about Tesla. I don't really follow cars nowadays.

But if they are pushing auto-drive, well, it gets my interest now :)

I'm always impressed and somewhat alarmed when I see these car-transporting lorries with cars at all different slopes and angles. I know that in some countries they have elevator ramps you drive a crar onto and then it raises up and lest you park one underneath, Wonder how long it'll be before they come to space-poor areas like where I live.

Actually I'm not totally sure what garages around here are good for as they all seem just big enough to contain cars made by Matchbox or Mattel.

I thought garages were for storing all the stuff that won't fit in the house?

Went shopping with a friend today. I'm now the proud owner of some Despicable Me unicorn slippers :D

A home isn't complete without them (Makes note to google that....)

It's good/best to have fun slippers.

Slippers are on my "to get" list.

EDIT: Googled it ....er, they look like a sex toy :)

Nah. They're about as far away from sexy as it's possible to get. Even in the world of slippers.

Looking at the BMW 5 parked next to the Juke, the BMW is longer but the Juke is higher.

Advantage of the Hyundai is 7 year warranty.

The XE and the Yeti are in the same position.

Much better for finding out you are well and were only awol cos you were on holiday.

I'm worried about the life of the batteries, especially for the sort of driving I do.

We're getting an F-Pace in May (subject to factory delays) to replace the Yeti, and agree that it's going to cause a lot of arguments. That and the X do seem to look rather alike, but I'd still prefer something made in Britain.
