No, waiters, on the whole, are hovering and creepy .... they slink over to your table, loom hugely over you, while holding their hands together and ask "is everything all right?"
"Yeah ... if you mean do I love to be interrupted by you gliding/slithering up to the table, then looming hugely over my table and interrupting me while I was eating .... yeah, fine."
Food is a private thing; eating is a (fairly) private thing....I am small; I don't like to be loomed over. I don't WANT huge looming strangers trying to engage me in any form of pointless chat when I'm trying to eat the food! I don't like people looming over my food. Go loom elsewhere.....0 -

Not necessarily!

Was a genius idea. Bought the extension lead, brought it home and realised that there is no gap large enough between machine and worktop or machine and side wall for the plug and extension bar. Even if I could plug into the socket outside of the gap, there is no room to position the extension lead, unless I let it hang at the back. It gets damp at the back because the drier air vent goes accross that wall, so don't really want it left there.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I gotta admit that I pretty much disagree with all of that.
Eating is a social activity. The word companionship apparently means 'with bread'.
One of the reasons that I love cooking is that I love to give my friends something lovely.0 -

I meant that when one's dining alone .... which is where we started.
And, actually, I don't want to be loomed over if eating with other people. I HATE loomers. People invading your space, standing tall/wide over you, expecting you to answer unexpected questions.
As a small person, I find there are many situations where bigger people "crush" me with their huge presence. They're tall and stuff ... and big .... and it's intimidating too.
Imagine yourself in a world where many people are over twice your volume and 20-25% taller than you. It's very lonely down there and you can get easily overwhelmed by the presence of some people.0
