My kind of plan. I LOVE going out to eat!

I hate it. The last time I went out, a couple of weeks ago, it was for what appeared to be a "regular evening pub meal". Going through the menu, by the time I'd dismissed the steak, anything with bacon, anything with parma ham, any funny fish stuff and the mushroom veggie offering, I had a choice of just two things. So I had the fish/chips.

Eating alone is one of the world's worst experiences too - IF they let you in. I spent most of a whole Saturday evening once visiting EVERY indian restaurant in one town trying to get a "table for one". They were all empty (I started at about 6pm) but said "No". A lot of restaurants don't like people dining alone, so they refuse you a table.

Then what... you sit uncomfortably waiting for the food to arrive. You eat it, you pay, you leave. Now what? Go home? Well, you'd have been better off getting a (cheaper) takeaway and going home in the first instance.

    :)

Restaurants don't have a policy of turning down tables of one. I think that's your anxieties. It's usually that they are booked up on a Saturday evening and worry about turn around times even when they appear quiet. We'll often get turned down for two on Saturday evenings trying to get a table at short notice.

I often go to restaurants alone and take a book and have never been turned down. I wouldn't go on a Saturday as I have kids and the TV is nice on Saturdays :)

I've been to tons of restaurants and eateries by myself and never had a problem. Always had decent service, not had a problem getting a table.

Am I seeing a new business opportunity as a 'second diner' available to accompany those not wishing or able to dine alone?
    I think....

If I have to eat by myself, I usually take a book. I've never had problems getting a table on my own, but I've never tried on a Saturday night, which is probably the busiest night of the week.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I feel too inhibited to eat out on my own.

No! No strangers to sit opposite and watch me eat, thanks.

That's hilarious. For the sake of saving £200 in translation fees, it'll never be forgotten. Doomed to go into the town's history books ad infinitum.

    Hilarious.

    :)

That's what happens when overpaid bosses try to save a few quid and get their staff to do tasks they're not qualified/paid for. A good bit of "on the cheap" job description creep c0ck up :)

I hesitate to use Google translate to create a simple sentence to post, say, here, simply saying "I love pies"..... there's no way I'd use it for something official! You never know WHAT you're saying ....as they found out.
