Congrats, Gen!
Your family have you, and that's more important than any amount of money, surely?!💙💛 💔0 -

It must feel good, another milestone that puts it further behind you.
Yes it does. Last year was horrible and this year has really been about repairing the damage. Now it finally feels like we can look to the future. The next step is to buy a place (once we have saved up).CKhalvashi wrote: »Congrats, Gen!

Yes it is. Money is quite handy for those incidentals like the gas bill though.
My comment about doing it tough was mostly aimed at you. It feels utterly sh it right now but it does get better. Just hang in there.0 -

I hope all NPs look after themselves and I'd direct that most of all to tonight's posters.
Sleep is precious and healing and I will avail myself of it very soon and reccommend it to all the good people of the thread. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Tomorrow is a massive day for the Generalis. We finally pay off the last of the debts incurred by me having cancer and the other bad stuff that happened last year. So relieved.

Congratulations to the Gen family!Doozergirl wrote: »I have some news.
We finally got our planning permission to build our new home, at planning committee last night. The planning officers were still recommending rejection. Common sense prevailed and the councillors changed the motion to be for approval and they voted 10-0.
Great news. I know you don't really like the house you're in ATM, so here's hoping the build goes swiftly and smoothly, and you end up with a place you can really love.I've got a monster headache, want to just sleep but have a bedroom to clear tomorrow in prep for a new bed arriving (youngest's room, tiny little thing and room clearance needed to just get the blooming thing in there and fitted in the only space the bed can go, so everything has to come out!). I feel absolutely exhausted and dizzy because I am...if only I could sleep for a week.
Oh no! Hope you survive the furniture moving and manage to get some rest after it's over. Wish the NP could have a whip round and send you lots of extra hours to use for sleeping, but sadly nobody's invented a way of doing that yet.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Sorry to hear some of the Nice People are doing it tough. It does get better IME at least.
Gen that's brilliant news. I don't think people realise how much cancer affects one's finances until it hits them. The combination of not having time to plan alternatives and the enforced lengthy absences... as well as the difficulty finding work if it happens between jobs.
I'm genuinely thrilled you've passed that hurdle. It's a really big one, and something I was only discussing with my dad this past week as he's currently experiencing same. Thanks for sharing such wonderful news. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I was diagnosed on 20th March last year so it's taken about 20 months to come out of the other side. On top of that there is a very small but nagging doubt that all is well.
I am definitely of the, "I kicked cancer's ar5e. Heck yeah!" school but every day in the shower when I shave the spot where I found the lump I just have a little moment of doubt. Perhaps I should switch to baths.
I'm still not reconciled to being unable to grow a beard despite having absolutely no desire to do so.
Onwards and upwards though. My cancer went and that's a lot more than a lot of other people can say, sadly.0 -
I've just got into the office, and one of the guys has made another 2 hours work on the website for me.
I thought that was really nice, especially as I did nothing but complain about how much I hate it💙💛 💔0 -

Florr is being levelled this week and a new window at the back should be fitted as well. The kitchen units arrived Monday...three weeks I expect, worktop not ordered yet (don't ask) and a the seating unit at the back has to be built and the are under the stairs converted into a storage area.
...
The kitchen worktop element gave me a lot of worry when we did the house project a couple of years back.
There were constant reminders of how it is important to find the right firm when you are dealing with granite or quartz.
We ended up with quartz worktops which are great, but the large sections were so heavy, I guess I didn't expect it when it came to installation.
It'd be good to know your plans0
