Thanks LydiaJ and welcome back.Good to see you back LydiaJ!
Hope the return to work's not too exhausting what with all the new changes.
Thanks for the welcome back, both of you. :hello: I have now got caught up with the NPT.
Work is fine thanks - not too exhausting because I'm still part time and my hours have gone down a bit this year. However, I am supposed to be home educating DS for one GCSE subject, and keep being too tired to begin.Need a serious rethink about when in the week we are going to do it.
Glad to hear that michaels's DD is feeling so much better than when she went into hospital, and hoping for a release time that makes the party possible.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
The drive went extremely well yesterday except my relief driver didn't want to take over the driving because he didn't feel confident driving a new (to him) car. Rather defeated the object of his coming along and it did leave me extemely tired for the end part of the journey home but I am incredibly proud of myself for actually being able to drive there in the first place.
Josh was like a little boy lost when we left (although he covered well), he didn't go out last night and sat in his room playing cards alone. He is unable to get on the halls internet as he doesn't have a laptop (we have a shared home laptop which he was unable to take), only his Ipad and that is not helping matters as he cannot use the internet to distract himself or talk to friends at home.
I have told him to go see student support this morning, he should have had one of the autism team helping him yesterday but as we all know on move in day, it all goes a little pear shaped and eeky (James has move in day for all the freshers today and he knows it is going to be fraught and through him, I know what it is like for the staff!).
Hopefully he will be able to connect with the team today so that he can start to enjoy the fresher events more, unfortunately, most are on the other campus SU which is a (free and uni provided) bus ride away....he is not at all fine with going on buses independently.
It's got James incredibly worried about him (he even admitted it to Josh last night) and he tried to help but Josh shut him down, not wanting to appear he needed help, silly male pride.
I'm hoping that with the excitment dying down today, that Josh can start to get to know the other flatmates better and maybe make plans with them but Josh will not like to impose on others and their plans, he thinks he needs to be asked to join in, rather than jumping in with both feet, or asking if they minded if he tags along like James does. He would also never try to start a conversation, or organise something, in case it is deemed presumptious or pushy (blooming Aspergers and their inbuilt rules!)
Must admit to a fair few tears last night and this morning, feel a little helpless when he is struggling within the first 24 hours of being there.
Youngest is loving it however! No more outside noises to interupt his concentration and he gets mum all to himself....he has decided (get him!), that we will be going out for a carvery lunch today to celebrate peace and quiet at home :rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
On the plus side demonstrating you can drive the return trip in a day means you know you can go and visit to help out should the need arise.I think....0

Who recommended a film? I'm considering going in the next couple of days and coughing all the way through but can't find the recommendation.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Someone (michaels?) recommended the new Woody Allen. I'm taking the Generalissimos to Pixels on Tuesday.0 -
It was a new Woody Allen - can't remember more than that. Still in hospital. Consultant knows dw from school gate and is keen to get us discharged but others being more circumspect. Dd doesn't even have temperature any more but completely miserable from being stuck here. If she were at home we wouldn't even consider her unwell at all.I think....0

Not sure it would be advisable on a regular basis, the last portion of the drive was difficult physically for me, that was with a clear road, if we had had any hold ups along the way, I dread to think what we would have done and last night, I was barely able to function, I couldn't even hold a conversation!
Today, I am struggling to keep upright and awake and my thought processes are a little wooly. We made it! If you do not like the film, you should ask gplux for a refund.
Hope Doozerboy jnr is not too sore and looking good this morning. Is school possible this week?
michaels good news on how well DD is feeling. Hospitals are great, they take hours to admit you but even longer to discharge you.0
