They are definitely not fun at the moment as they both have colds, but yes, they are much more interactive now and being able to sit up has made a massive difference to how happy they are, especially Sofia. She used to cry if you left her lying on her back for more than 5 mins whereas now she can sit up for an hour and play with stuff without needing to be entertained. So much easier now!

I can empathise. I have a stinking cold and I am not fun either. Only Tattinger has kept me quiet. I guess they're too young for that :o

That is interesting. Any reason why you weren't sent to the local school?

My secondary school was a 90 minut coach ride away. Religeous discrimination was OK in the good old days.

Roman Catholics were not admited to the local grammar due to some 14th century bylaw.

I was sent to a new comprehensive some miles away. My parents only told me I had passed the 11+ some years later, as it was of no value. My older sister had gone to the local secondary modern for girls and my mum and dad had thought it made her 'cheeky' so I was destined to be coralled with other RC kids.

I have the sniffles and DD is being caring so gave me a tissue with Olbas oil on it. I wiped my watery eyes with it. Error. Please send Tattinger, it is a known cure for everything.

Just past six months now and we have learnt to sit up, roll over, eat food and SCREAM.

Chewy, they are both absolutely adorable. :D

I had my retirement presentation at work today. A gentle tea party where I was showered with kind words, generous gifts, and flowers.

I had not prepared a script for the few words I would need to say by way of response, however made a coherent reply.

Physically I found it harder than anticipated and developed an uncontrollable shaking and had to sit rather than stand. I was almost on the verge of cracking emotionally, no tears but a very trembley bottom lip and jaw that took on a life of it's own. Not a good Look.

It is a bit like hearing your own eulogy or reading lots of favourable obituaries about your achievemenst and high moral and ethical standards, skills, ready wit, and empathy.

Except you have not had the downside of dying.

My daughter came with me, and the greatest accolade was her telling me that she wanted to be like me as we travelled home.

It all made me feel like a Nice Person.

I'm sure you deserved everything they said about you.

I have one of two responses. The main one is to ask them to hold on whilst I turn on my computer. Then I put the phone down and get on with something else. That keeps them busy for a few minutes whilst they are not scamming someone else. Or, if I am feeling particularly public spirited, I let them take me through their script, being sure to make lots of mistakes.

The other response is to have a chat and ask them whether they can't get an honest job. Several of them have told me how bad they feel about what they are doing. I'm still not going to let them near my computer though.

I like both those ideas. Mind if I borrow them??
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Always better than Olbas in the eye! Further training required.

Had the Goat tagine for dinner. It was delicious.

oh home in the morning. He emailed me a pic this morning of the view from his hotel.Near hurricane. palm trees bending, lashing rain. sent me an email later to say it was then hot and sunnyand he was on a bus sight seeing.

Lovely weather here today. I packed an impromptu picnic for DD and her boyfriend. She was riding and he found her so they could have lunch together.

Payback for me was that bf cleaned my bedroom carpet. I am not the best at carrying mugs of hot drinks. this week I liberally splashed coffee on the bedroom carpet. He also cleaned a rug where our dog had a mishap yesterday. DD had cleaned it yesterday but it needed the carpet cleaner on it and it is too heavy for me to use..

I also have a horrible cold (particularly the cough). Do I ask my GP for the Tattinger?
