TBH I don't think I'd force one of the Generalissimos to have a book read that they found scary.
Agree. I wouldn't make mine read books they found depressing, distressing, or even boring, either. Mostly because I wouldn't make myself read books that I found any of those things either. There's no point in reading "for pleasure" unless it's a pleasure. You will glad to hear baby Jenson was born yesterday evening at 9lb 1oz, everybody is fine and doing well.
Will pop back with a picture when time allows.
Congratulations to the Percy family from me too. Hope the first few weeks have been going well - feeding, sleeping, all that stuff...I keep typing letters in the wrong order today, but at least it has reminded me to tell you that we saw 2 signs at roadworks this morning stating PEDESTRAIN CROSSING.
I bet the person who prepared the signs was fed up when they realised. If indeed they did realise.
I now keep visualising a locomotive with lots of feet, rather like Terry Pratchett's Luggage.
I love that image. Thank you ivyleaf.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I also have a horrible cold (particularly the cough). Do I ask my GP for the Tattinger?
it is a lot cheaper than many drugs, has fewer side effects and can improve mood.
I think you may be on to something, and should contact Jeremy Hunt right away.
I have a pal who was a drug tsar for the NHS. He is retiring this month but may be able to put in a word. If all NP lobby their MPs and use their networks we may be able to make something happen.0 -
I have previously posted about having the most dreadful shakes, rigors. It predates my stroke , can give me symptoms of chills or fevers anddisturbs my sleep . they are quite violent, teeth chatter,I cannot control my limbs and ache and am exhausted. Oh and I reckon it happens about 6 days out of 7.
I have seen a neurologist. the chap is oHs tennis partner, so we know him well. He has asked OH to video me during an episode and send it to him. Oh has assurred me that film of me in my nighty , shaking is definitley not sexting. I am worried about how my hair looks (usually 'mad' remember it is growing back after falling out) and whether i have a pretty but figure enhancing nightie, covering everything up and striking an age appropriate balance between modest and womanly.
May just have to get myself a crocodile onsie with hood.0 -
Extremely late to the party, but thrilled for you anyway, Gen.

Takes all sorts. The driver's arm rest in my car annoys me and always seems to be in the way of the handbrake as well as the useful place for putting things between the front seats.
There was an overturned car on the northbound M5 somewhere south of Birmingham today. Lot of police, fire engines etc, and a huge tailback. Can't tell you anything more about it because I was going southbound when I went past it.
Thanks LydiaJ and welcome back.0 -
Without wishing to speak for SingleSue I am going to do so anyway. I suspect it's because he's a colossal loser.
Absolutely...That is our private agreement...it hasn't changed for several years. It's not through the CSA as he threatend to give up his job if it went via that and any request for an increase is met with anger.
Initially, it was in line with what the CSA was saying should be paid (minimum wage back in 2007) but obviously over the years with pay increases etc, it now lags behind what it should be.
... and there's the evidence to back up Generali's verdict.....plus right now, I am in the perfect mood for an argument to try to force him to realise that being a parent is much more involved than seeing the children once or twice a year for a couple of hours to be able to receive the compliments on how well they have turned out.
And the NP are right behind you!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Less than 24 hours until Josh starts the next stage of his life....think there may be tears later on, certainly from my mum and quite probably from me.
I'm dreading it but also looking forward to it. Dreading it because my life will become a little more difficult (no-one to push my wheelchair when shopping etc) but also looking forward to it because he did it! He overcame his difficulties to such an extent that he is reaching the potential I always knew was there.
He proved the doubters wrong........
Well done Josh! And well done you! :T:T:T:T:T:T:TI have a stinking cold, was meant to be sharing the driving taking DS2 to uni. Instead OH has taken him without me. The house is very quiet.
Sending cyber hugs....DGS, who seems to be liking his new primary school.(Some of you may remember that he moved school due to bullying).
Glad it's going better at the new school. Hope and pray it continues to be bullying-free.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Good to see you back LydiaJ!

I'm sure you two can think of better ways to meet up than a date at A&E!
Wishing NP children better!
I can say that a night in a&e admissions far surpasses a night in general children's ward. DD 2 is absolutely gutted to be still inside as she feels pretty much fine and I am left wondering if her SATs are normally low as indictated 100% with o2 mask doesn't seem to agree with her and when she was alarmingly low last night she was pretty much normal not showing any of the signs expected. She is still pushing for escape early Sunday morning to get to a birthday party.Agree. I wouldn't make mine read books they found depressing, distressing, or even boring, either. Funnily enough Dd2 wouldn't let me stop and is now completely into the story and I am th only one left getting emotional when heart warming events happen. Dd1 shows her appreciation by falling asleep as soon as I start reading to them, either a reflection of the fact that as well as new school she has 16 extracurricular activities each week or on just how exciting my delivery is.....
Lovely baby photos, I love how different the twins are. Hopefully all NPS are recovering from their colds and or their kids are good. I have found having a sick child seems to have cured mine for the time being.I think....0 -
Given our local NHS trust I can quite Imagine that our nearest child a&e is close to doozers...

You have all my sympathy. When DD's appendix burst, we built up too many memories of the children's ward.

May I reccomend a film. With many here not finding good things on TV. Maybe you might try the Cinema.
Yesterday we went to see the new Woody Allen film starring Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix. It is funny, entertaining and thought provoking.
