No, when the first kids arrive we're all think we can still watch TV / play computer games when the kids wake up without realising that that's stimulating for the babies and incentivises them to wake at night.
Really the best thing is to maintain darkness and silence and let them learn that night-time's boring. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Blimey, Spirit! You're not a cheap date, are you?!
What I quote often depends on who it is, which usually is the deciding factor in whether I want to be associated with it or not. I have never yet refused a quote.
I have been known to price work at a loss if it's likely to be able to bring in other work, but I've also been known to put a £200+VAT/hour markup (standard day is 10 hours) if we don't really want to be associated with the work at all.
We're doing very little work for others now, as our own work is operating at 98% of reasonable capacity (usually more profitable, but requires the money to be tied up for 2-3 months), and the days of double-shifting the office are over, as my days of 100 hour weeks are over about 2 years ago.💙💛 💔0 -

OK I@m just a TV maniac...
Gogglebox Australia is one of the very few TV programmes I watch.
The Boy played his first ever game of competitive cricket today. His bowling was pretty so-so but I reckon that he was the pick of the batsmen. He got 3 not out so is currently averaging infinity in all forms of the game. Pwned Donald Bradman!
The Girl was not impressed to be dragged out to watch her brother play cricket for 3 hours (it was a 10:10 match with each batsman facing 12 balls and getting out reducing your score rather than sending you back to the hutch). Next week is a Test Match with 2 ten over innings a side. That'll be a great way to spend a lot of my Saturday (not being sarcastic, I love cricket at all levels).
The Girl has taken up tennis and is convinced that she'll be the next Martina only pinker. She's having a blast too.0 -
Our neighbours have put a note through our letter box:
"We're having a party this Sunday for my father's 98th birthday. We don't expect there to be much noise......"No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
