Oohh.. lovely place. I hope he has a great time. It is truly spectacular.

Hope the heating system gets sorted soon Spirit and that you don't end up cuddling up to the dog for warmth.

Josh Update! (Yes, I will probably bore you all silly over the next week or so)

Another good day, he had someone to take notes of the introduction today and to help him make sense of what was going on, so that made him feel more confident and able to do it. He has turned down the helper for tomorrow as it is more hands on and he tends to be able to remember that better plus it is something he does have experience in (sound desk stuff, he did sound for numerous plays and did heaps of research prior to each one so he didn't make mistakes)

Tonight he apologised for not replying to a text I sent (just a silly picture of the cat with a pair of Josh's boxers on his head.....Jazz is missing him), as he was out at another flat having fun and talking music. Apparently the kitchen of his flat had been taken over by the acting crowd, lots of noisy over excited females and the get together upstairs seemed a far more attractive place to be. :rotfl:

Yep, I think he is starting to enjoy this now

Great news. I read the previous updates and thought he'll be alright :)

Sometimes it just takes a little bit longer to meet your sort of people and settle in a bit. Hopefully it'll give him a bit more confidence and he'll expand even more. I was lucky really I got on well with my housemates, but it took me a few more weeks to meet the people I'd go on to live with in second and third year and I still see regularly 8 years after we started.

Actually it's 8 years to the day that I moved to Sheffield for uni

Yeah, I only properly started talking to one of my now closest friends in the Jan after we started (our rooms were about 3 doors away from each other down the same corridor). And my other closest uni friend I met in my 4th year (we did our MSci projects in the same lab). Sounds like Josh is settling in just fine so far, hope it continues :)

Edit: don't want to think about how many years ago it was that I started uni

Fine just super busy having missed a weekend of chores and super tired having missed a weekend of sleep...if I wasn't still behind on the former I would be doing the latter now.

Arranged a possible BTL viewing Saturday AM before DS football and DDs drama and now DD2 (the sick one) has a football match on Saturday morning, this was a viewing rescheduled from last weekend for obvious reasons - perhaps it is not meant to be?

Spirit do you have any electric heaters and an immersion for such emergencies?
    I think....

Thought I'd mention the offer on at Lidl this week. They have a number of gadgets for opening jars, cans, etc.

I have a weak right wrist and have several of these. Thought I'd mention in case they could be of use to anyone else:

The jar key is great for breaking the seal on jars and safer than a knife. Jars are my biggest problem too. I swear they have got bigger while chocolate bars have gone the other way.

    So glad you're okay michaels!

Oh gosh Spirit! I hope the Aga can be fixed asap and that you can manage in the meantime!

I have a gadget for opening different sizes of jars, which I must admit I haven't tried myself as I haven't needed it yet, and I have a spare one anyway as they were both free gifts when my husband ordered stuff from "Co0per's of St0rtford". You're very welcome to one if you'd like, just pm me if so :)

I use a thing called a Jar Key which I bought at Lakeland. It breaks the seal; I wouldn't trust myself to do it with a knife ;) You can use a bottle opener too, though whenever I've tried that I've always dented the lid.

Thanks, but I don't really have an issue, I've found a workable solution, I use few jars.

You can send me the cash instead if you like :P
