So glad you're okay michaels!
Oh gosh Spirit! I hope the Aga can be fixed asap and that you can manage in the meantime!
Pastures New I have a gadget for opening different sizes of jars, which I must admit I haven't tried myself as I haven't needed it yet, and I have a spare one anyway as they were both free gifts when my husband ordered stuff from "Co0per's of St0rtford". You're very welcome to one if you'd like, just pm me if so
I use a thing called a Jar Key which I bought at Lakeland. It breaks the seal; I wouldn't trust myself to do it with a knifeYou can use a bottle opener too, though whenever I've tried that I've always dented the lid.
ETA Cross-posted with viva .
I have a very handy tool called a youngest, a James or a Josh. If none of those are available, I have a tool called Begger it, I can do without :rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I dislike the cans with ring pulls - in theory it saves you having an opener, in practice opening them without spillages or cutting yourself is pretty much impossible imho.I think....0

I find, in the main, if the task is approached carefully, they're better than muckying up a tin opener.
The problems can come from getting the ring raised to get a good grip (especially with nails) ... and if the lid doesn't peel off smoothly then you can end up trying to fight it and/or giving up. A few times, too, you can get a crack of the edge open before the ring detaches.
Overall I prefer them to regular tins.... but can be a minefield of unexpected outcomes.0 -
Will catch up in a bit.
Seriously?💙💛 💔0 -
Ha ha, that is priceless CK.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Very funny. Is there really no third sign just out of view?
I asked google to see whether anybody else had spotted that and posted a similar photo on the web. All that search proved was that Google is carp at searching for images. Maybe they should spend less time changing their logo and more time honing their search algorithms? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Queues in this country are usually labelled "All UK/EEA passports" and either "All other passports" or just "All passports". So the possibilities are...
a) There are many queues so that each of these labels appears many times. This sign just happens to be between a queue for non-UK/EEA passports and a queue for anybody from anywhere.
b) Somebody has been monkeying around with the sign and has somehow obliterated the "UK/EEA" part of the sign (unlikely IMO)
c) Whoever took the pic (and CK doesn't say whether he took it himself or got it from somebody else) has digitally removed the "UK/EEA" part.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Not my photo. A friend put it on Facebook this morning, which is a friend I know was at City not long after 7am on BA2, then re-departed via Heathrow.
Just run the image through our office software as a negative, and it does look very much like it's been edited.
I wish I'd run it through Photoshop to start, as I feel an idiot now:cool:
ETA: Tilt your monitor up/head down, you can see a slightly lighter patch where the EU/EEA has been taken out.
Another very good photoshop, ruined by Photoshop itself.💙💛 💔0 -

Don't be so hard on yourself, CK - you're not an idiot. I was fooled by that toilets and shower sign that had been digitally altered to look like a dalek until I read somewhere that it had been photoshopped and the actual sign in the railway station just looked like a shower. It's only because of having been caught out by that that it occurred to me that something similar was going on here.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? There are some good photoshops out there.
In fact, some quick investigation reveals that it has been posted online in July, for reasons unknown.💙💛 💔0
