Heard an amazing stat this week. Apparently, if a person watches 4ish hours of tv a day, that will take up 12 years of their life!

How does that equate to posting on this forum

Swimming. In the sea. In May.

End of may. :) I would have paddled today, If I had a ski suit to sleep in tonight. I would happily have lain on the beach though, with a book. I have never liked beach holidays or anything, but fatigue has the benefit of slowing one down. Big hat and lots of sun cream to protect the bits of me that cannot tolerate sun and the rest of me could have made vitamin d. :D.

Today I needed Lydia marking style encouragement to paint my toenails ( a weekly ritual I have recemented having got lazy) I always.

So you are nearly four fifths of the way there. :j

Thanks. Although not all of that was today. I did some before the pre-moderation meeting at the end of term, so today's marking began with going through those an altering as necessary in the light of the discussion from that meeting, before starting on the other ones.

Was completely exhausted so had a little sleep but just got going again.

    Y12: 40 criteria x 6 students = 240 marks. Completed 240/240 = 100%.
    Y13: 40 criteria x 3 students = 120 marks. Completed 56/120 = 47%.
    Total completed = 296/360 = 82.2%

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Why do the BBC weathermen/women always remind us that whenever we have a warm-ish day, it's "warmer here than in Rome, Istanbul, Athens or Madrid"?

I can think of no logical answer.

Have reached some nice round numbers. :)

    Y12: 40 criteria x 6 students = 240 marks. Completed 240/240 = 100%.
    Y13: 40 criteria x 3 students = 120 marks. Completed 84/120 = 70%.
    Total completed = 324/360 = 90.0%

Sadly, have also reached the end of the easier sections (planning and measuring) for the final 2 students. Will now have to deal with the analysis. The first 4 marks each (for the graphs) are easy enough, but the rest of them are really subjective and hard to assess. :(

Might have to eat some chocolate before facing the next bit. ;)

To make us feel better about our normally relatively chilly little island. And feel smug about the people we know who are on holiday in those places?

I can see this. I hate cooking for just one person. Difficult to motivate ones-self to be creative or imaginative. Also, a big part of food for me is the social aspect - sharing it with someone & seeing them enjoy something I made.

Really happy to see a number of people looking at the value of a persons time re the dishwasher thing. That in itself has pretty much persuaded me.

I don't mind cooking for one, and I think I put as much effort and creativity into it as I would for someone else (perhaps more because I know I'll still eat it even if the experiment doesn't go as planned).

I think I'd just like someone else to choose what we'd be eating that night (of course, back in reality I doubt I'd particularly like someone putting in their order for dinner every night). Though I guess I kind of leave the decisions to what is on the bargain shelf. I'm always a bit stuck if I get there and it's empty!

All the dishwasher talk has convinced me to keep an eye out for a good deal on one :)

    Snap re the bargain shelf.

Plus I am the lucky one who goes round the supermarket trying to conjure up new, interesting, tasty, easy and quick to cook meals only to be asked by DKs why I didn't just do sausages again?
    I think....

Thank you. Have now got to a different kind of round number (numbers of marks round rather than percentages).

    Y12: 40 criteria x 6 students = 240 marks. Completed 240/240 = 100%.
    Y13: 40 criteria x 3 students = 120 marks. Completed 100/120 = 83%.
    Total completed = 340/360 = 94.4%

This last bit is the worst, though - nastier than anything in the Y12 stuff as well as anything earlier in the Y13 stuff.

On a different subject, have any other hayfever-prone NP noticed that the pollen season seems to be starting? My eyes have started reacting as of yesterday. Yesterday I managed with the eye drops. Today I have taken a tablet, which seems to be working so far.

No, but then I was expecting to grow out of it by now.
