Our cherry tree blossomed last week; very little blossom left now. OH keeps telling me we should get rid.
Our cherry tree is 6 years old and hasn't managed to produce any cherries.
Prob the pigeons thieve them. Yesterday evening we were sitting in the front porch while I had a couple of cigs before crawling up to bed (overdid the pruning in back garden ouch!) and watched a flock of pigeons in a tree across the road that I think might be a cherry tree (it's not in flower yet) pecking away. Probably eating the flower buds. Took some photos but I don't think they're good enough to tell what they're up to,lemonjelly wrote: »Apple tree here has no leaves yet.
The cherry blossom tree I moved is opening its buds, so I didn't kill it!
Both the crab apple and apple tree have leaves here, though only little ones so far.lostinrates wrote: »Here most of ours are fine....I should run it max see what happens to tannin. Mind you I wash most things in there, even things I know I should not. The wok doesn't go it, or cast iron, but silver plate does, wood does, bone china does,
We seem to have a lot of stuff that doesn't go in. Our knives are bone handled, silver plated forks and spoons that I prefer not to go in as they were Mum's best set that only came out for high days and holidays. At least we use them every day! And most of our mugs get hand washed, the patterns bleach out if put in the dishwasher, which we only discovered after OH put one of his most precious ones in the dishwasher. The best plates were my Grandmother's, so they get hand washed. But we don't use them very often, our every day stuff is dish washer proof. OH still does loads by hand though, he just refuses to believe me that it's more environmentally friendly to use dishwasher. We don't have a water meter (I thought it best not to so we can use a hosepipe in garden when needed) so saving water isn't a cost concern. What does really drive me up the wall is how much water gets wasted while I wait for it to run hot from the combi boiler for dishwashing, and for baths too.

Yep soak them until you set the dishwasher going.
HID sometimes washes stuff first, and then puts it in the dishwasher.
I have no idea why, and I am too scared to ask.
P.S. Never ask a woman why.............it's not worth the risk 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
No more codeine in the house. It's all gone. To take more I need to buy more.0

We seem to have a lot of stuff that doesn't go in. Our knives are bone handled, daily we use laguoile via tx max plastic handle knifes. Cheerful enough to dishwash and pastel coloured and more effective than the old knives enough to disilver plated forks and spoons that I prefer not to go in
. they were Mum's best set that only came out for high days and holidays. At least we use them every day! I did a shuffle recently. We are now useing an old set of silver plated that I'd happily give away. I dishwash. They are nicely weighted but they have some funny anchor part tern on them. Not keen. And most of our mugs get hand washed, the patterns bleach out if put in the dishwasher, which we only discovered after OH put one of his most precious ones in the dishwasher.dish wash:D no longer buy expensive mugs, but have old expensive mugs and I dishwash. I do hand wash my antique cups and saucers, ( well, most of them....BUT........I am considering selling some of these. E.g. I have an incredible teacup/ saucer so thin you can see through it. Its like holding the most delicate shell in the world. Why do I , the clumsiest woman in the world with a house ful of animals, own this? I feel its time to say good bye to it. Not so much worried about its price but would like it to be lovedThe best plates were my Grandmother's, so they get hand washed. yeah, dishwash:ok but ours are mainly mismatched, I have a set I keep back ( china not porcelain or anything fancy) for vegetarian cooking for fir's relatives. Has only been used once since we moved here....by lady GDb! But we don't use them very often, our every day stuff is dish washer proof. Ours is a mix of the fancy mismatched and Limoges white.......dishwash:D. OH still does loads by hand though, he just refuses to believe me that it's more environmentally friendly to use dishwasher. We have a metre AND we deal with our own waste water. ( grey and otherwise). Makes one much more conscious. I was relatively conscious on septic tanks, having the biodisc thing, AND keeping the runoff really brings it home.0 -

Generali, this is not good, is it really so addictive for you you can have no pain relief? Can you talk to a doctor about alternative pain relief? You might need something. Masochism is not for everyone.0 -
We have a john lewis dishwasher, nothing is kept for best here we and guests all eat off Portmerion Botanic Garden and we have about 13-15 of Dinner plates, side plates, dishes plus a selection of serving dishes. Easy to replace if it breaks .There is some heirloom china stuffed away in a cupboard but it is not practical to use and a lovely art deco coffee set that is in the dresser in the kitchen.
We dishwash everything, I often run it on half loads, we usually wash on the short cycle. Pans and roasting tins with residues in are given a swish round with a washing up brush before going in, dishes with burnt on bits gets soaked in washing soda then the washing up brush treatment.
We have some thin wine and beer glasses which we do not dish wash due to a run of breakages in the dishwasher and hand wash a huge le creuset casserole which just takes up too much room.
cutlery is nothing special and we have a canteen of cutlery (not silver) with a vile pattern on it, but as is the way of such things it has remained intact over the last 30 years, so it does come out for larger gatherings.
The form in our house is that the cook does not clear the table nor stack the dishwasher. I seem to do most of the dishwasher unloading now, but that is Ok as I have the time.0
